I'm looking into getting a JP Silent Capture System and was wondering, what would be the best for my current setup? I'm currently building a 300 blk SBR and am planning on getting a Daniel Defense 10.3" MK18 upper someday. I have a suppressor that I'm waiting for approval on as well that I will use with the SBR. I have a JP SCS H2 in my .308 and am very pleased with it. What I would like to do is get the JP SCS (either regular or H2) possibly with the extra spring pack and configure the SCS to work as with both 300 blk subsonic suppressed and the 10.3" 5.56 upper suppressed. I have an adjustable gas block for the 8" 300 blk. Is the JP SCS H2 with the extra spring pack a good idea for my setup for would something else be better?

I have a few. I have NOT been impressed with them in the 5.56mm/300 BLK platform. You are better off getting a Tubbs or Sprinco spring. I DO like in in the 9mm platform. Not with direct blowback, as a heavy buffer/308 spring do the best job, but in the CMMG RDB system.

    YMMV.

I have a friend who swears by them but I heard the springs need replaced every 1000 rounds or something ridiculous like that.

Doc, do have one in a Banshee? If so, what does it do for you?

Thank you for your reply! What spring/buffer weight combo would you recommend for being able to run subsonic 300 BLK and 5.56 suppressed/unsuppressed? Or would separate weights be better?

Best avoid those. Sprinco or Tubbs is the way to go. I can't speak for Tubbs personally, but folks report very quiet operation. I've never had a problem nor gotten any real boing from my Sprinco's.

I have a DDm4v7p (basically mk18 with DD mlok rail), but in 5.56. I am currently SBR'ing it via form 1.

Be mindful of OAL here. Only a few stocks will get you to 29'' with a standard carbine tube. AFAIK the B5 Bravo gets you to 29.25 without a pinned muzzle device. A Magpul CTR, for example, does not.

I do not. My .300 BLK was home built. It is on a 10.5" Noveske barrel. I thought it was a little louder at my ear than having a Tubbs spring (shooting suppressed with an SDN-6). May be because of decreased dwell time.

I use an H2 buffer and have a Tubb flatwire spring in my 10.5”. It does not have an adjustable gas block, but cycles supers and subs just fine. Subs I only shoot suppressed. I’m not sure if they cycle unsuppressed.

Only advantage I see in the SCS is in full length rifle buffers. I have one in my 20" gun. Super smooth and super quiet (no 'sproing' sound). None in any of my SBRs.

+1 I agree with you. I couldn't stand the noise from my original spring in my 20" AR with full length buffer. I got the JP and with the spacer it's smooth and quiet.

In my carbines I run springco red or blue springs and an H2 or Spikes ST-T2 buffer.
