Picked this up at the York Show. Had my wife with me and this was my birthday gift from her. She is like a lucky charm for me in more ways than one. Almost always do I get a good deal when I make that inquiry "what is your best price on this" and she is staring at them like "It better be good or he can't have it".

I NEVER thought I'd be able to get an engraved one either. I'm still researching what its market worth is but I know its more than what I paid for it and its worth at least what I paid to me anyway. It has some wear and some slight freckling underside of the barrel near the muzzle. Slight scratches on the stock and you can tell its been to the range to be enjoyed.

This was the very first RIFLE I purchased in PA that was NOT C&R. The background check was backed up so I dropped off at SCSG and just paid to have Brian take it back to MD and pay the transfer fee. Picked it up today and took home to clean up.

It has a signature on the engraving I'm still trying to make out.

    Very nice!

If you've never shot a Sharps before make sure you put it on halfcock before opening the action, this is especially important when closing the action.

    Thx for the tip
I did not know that when I opened it up the first time but did read about that shortly after starting to look up the model.

I made up 2 cases with just a primer loaded and verified it sets off a primer.

Beautiful rifle! I've also got a Pedersoli Sharps, but not nearly as refined as that. It's a favorite, though. Enjoy!

Beautiful rifle! Can you shoot the hotter 45-70 loads or are they limited to the lower pressure rounds like the original trap door models.

Took it to the range on an extended Lunch.
Shot on paper at 50 yards first, then on steel at 100 yards.
These 45-70 loads are using pistol powder under a 405gr bullet. They come out around 1200-1300fps I recall. Bullets were purchased years ago and I have yet to cast for 45-70 although I do have the mold.
I think these bullets are a bit skinny (I did not have good notes back then and need to pull and measure) and look forward to trying again once I run out of them and use cast bullets that are a bit bigger to the bore.

10 shots with front rest from the bench at 50 yards onto paper
