    The pictures of the pistol in parts scared me.

    I love my 1917 French Army ‘07 (identifiable
    by the lanyard ring) but, I hate breaking it
    down because it can be a bear to
    reassemble, and some of the parts are
    very delicate and not so easy to replace.

    Field strip is not too tough and unlikely to damage parts. IIRC lock the slide back, twist off the bolt, release the slide forward and off.

    I think that was a Savage and Ortgies marketing play; no screws to dissemble.

    Thought someone asked for photo's of mine but I'm not finding that so here we go by way of comparison. My photo's are not so good but can try to improve if needed.

    Again, I have a letter from Savage that is silent on the finish for this SN.

    LKGMADMAX requested photos. I need to work on my camera skills.

    Glad to see the OP got his piece! See some variations (perhaps) on the slide top roll marks.
