Enfield serial number help

So I got this Enfield No4 Mk1, pretty sure mk1, and I have been trying to decipher the serial number. It looks like it’s stamped “1943” but I don’t think that’s a date stamp from some reading I’ve done. Anyway, I’m attaching a photo of the stock band, any help is much appreciated.

1943 I believe is the date made by BSA. Their 4 digit serials started with single letters then AA through AV.

It's for sure the date. What's on the left wall of the receiver? Anything?

Yup, Birmingham Small Arms factory made in 1943.
