Simple answer is fill out the 77R as a voluntary registration or the one above it "I received the firearm as a gift (Gift)".

And if it comes back as reported stolen, what do you do then.

I dunno, I think the question was answered well enough to my satisfaction anyways. If I had any, I might be a little more interested in details, but I haven't been that lucky. Not sure I would take it if I were, depending on where it was found. These inside the wall guns, i think may have crimes associated with them.

We did have one house, where the guy had a safe, buried in the backyard, dead center under an above ground pool. It was empty, well, full of water, by the time I found it. Always wondered what he kept in there....

    Water obviously. Duh. :-D

I never find anything that good in my flips. The top 2 things that come to mind are a nice vise and an extension cord. I would certainly keep any half decent firearm.

Take the serial number to MSP to see if it was registered, tell them the truth about finding a pistol. If you do not have an HQL they will ask you to bring it in. If you get an HQL before you report it they still may ask you to bring it in. However, if there was no record of a previous owner generally you wait 30 days and then fill out the transfer paper work at MSP. What ever you do, do not lie to them other wise you can be in read deep trouble with jail time. The other thing you can do is inform them what you do and ask the questions what are the procedures when finding a pistol.

If I found an old Raven 25 acp I might feel comfortable doing just that. If I found an old Luger or Colt 1911, not so much
