Another reason why some DO NOT need them! They are probably illegals otherwise they’d be getting their own checks!

Last I heard both illegals and prisoners were gonna get checks.

Why is need a consideration? I thought we were all equal in the eyes of the law and government in this country. If you are going to give a homeless person a check then you should be required to give a billionaire the same check. Think egalitarianism.

This is what has screwed up our country, hating those that have more. The desire to punish those that have more comes out of jealousy and a desire for retribution due to those who have more working hard to get more. Sometimes there is luck due to birth but, that isn't a constant in our country.

If prisoners and illegals are actually getting these checks, I'm going scorched-earth on taxes. I will do everything in my power to limit what the Gov can steal from me. "Covid relief" should be focused on extending unemployment, covering pandemic related healthcare costs and vaccine rollout - that's it.

ETA, apparently it's true. Prisoners get a check. https://www.eitcoutreach.org/blog/how-can-i-get-my-stimulus-check-if-i-am-incarcerated/

Looks like illegals may get stimulus too. Hard to tell based on the reporting. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/vo...force-democrats-on-the-record-on-tough-issues

1.4 million prisoners are getting checks.
Checks amounting to at least 1.96 BILLION. For the record, they received the first 2 rounds of checks also.

If the first 2 check payments were "oversight" payments, this latest check for prisoners was specifically noted and voted upon. It was passed on party lines.

As of now illegals ("undocumented immigrants" in Newspeak) are getting checks per this report:

Then it’s about time they start getting charged “room and board”!

If the convicts owe restitution or child support will the stimulus go towards it? Would be nice if it did.

Would be best, but I doubt it will happen. It would require some level of responsibility, not to mention a group of bureaucratic bean counters keeping track. Just easier to hand out $$ like it’s Halloween candy.

The first check was intercepted by MD Child support. My grandkids that live with us are owed @ $10k in child support from their deadbeat dad and the first payment was scooped from him. The second had protections unless he got it from filing his taxes this year. We shall see.
As far as I know the 3rd stimulus is not subject to garnishment but I haven't read it in the text.

As a stimulus, a deadbeat dad is more likely to blow the money on nonsense, vs I would be more likely to save it for the kids. For example the loser in our situation hasn't paid child support in a year but has 4 wheelers, took a trip to Vail CO for new years and 2 weeks ago was in Florida at a resort. @$$hole

Actually, people tried to stop it, but a judge ruled in a court case that the prisoners should receive said checks

Yes. Unlike regular child support or restitution payments when someone is out of prison that can often be finagled out of, the state and fed have far more control over the pay that incarcerated persons receive. Usually, every cent you make as a convict goes to restitution and child support.

The judge's ruling came in October of last year.

Most recently with this third stimulus, Senators Cassidy, Cotton and Cruz tried to amend the bill to disallow prisoners from receiving checks. The amendment was voted down 50-49.

I want to put it all towards the mortgage. We are refinancing down to 15 years and I want to get this sucker paid off in case things get bad for the economy.

The wife wants to buy a new full suspension mountain bike.

Why is need a consideration ?

Because we care enough to share, to keep others from being homeless & going hungry.

    >>>> I thought we were all equal in the eyes of the law and government in this country.

Equal opportunity for fairness in legal matters. Not equal in every possible sense.

    >>> If you are going to give a homeless person a check then you should be required to give a billionaire the same check. Think egalitarianism.

    No, think charity.
Not one size fits all, not sameness of output without consideration of need.

    >>>> This is what has screwed up our country, hating those that have more. The desire to punish those that have more comes out of jealousy

Humans, being twisted in their thinking. It has hurt our country. The correction ? Ask what cultural normative standards preclude this thinking. The ask Who is behind the cultural norms and standards that correct this human fault.

and a desire for retribution due to those who have more working hard to get more. Sometimes there is luck due to birth but, that isn't a constant in our country.

    So, we have an example of the combination of jealousy and self-justification in robbery ;
The brand of so-called socialism that is rampant in the news today. Masked human faults and rebellion, exacerbated by faulty solutions.

"If faulty thinking got us into this, why can't faulty thinking get us out of this ?"

Some people keep confusing NEED with GREED.

I shot a note to Sen. Warner asking him to explain his decision to support sending stimulus checks to currently incarcerated/convicted rapists, child molesters and murders, while many middle-class families/earners go without.

Zero chance I get an answer.

    .

That's crazy. None of those prisoners lost any work due to Covid and their housing, food and healthcare is already paid for by us. They shouldn't get a damn nickel.
