WTF happened to St Mary's Co?? it was just a quiet lil place not that long ago.:sad20:

Not knowing the details of this incident I don't want to speculate, but crime from Lex Park and Chuck county are slowly making way into this area, unfortunately.

St. Mary’s Co used to be one of the most quiet and conservative areas. Then old Stenny Hoyer poached 20,000 jobs out of Northern Virginia. It was done under BRAC, the closing and consolidating of bases, commission. The commission was supposed to be neutral, where have we heard that before, for their work. The 20,000 was only the beginning, how many ultimately have moved is anyone’s guess. The result is that a great deal of undesirables has moved in. The area now makes the Northern Virginia traffic look like a cake walk and the crime makes S.E. DC look like Mayberry.

On a more humorous note. One couple moved into what they thought was their dream home. They moved in during the winter months. When spring came around, they noticed a smell. They called the police because they thought someone was dumping chemicals or something. When the officer responded he couldn’t detect anything out of the ordinary. The people couldn’t understand how the officer couldn’t smell what they did. They finally described what was disturbing them. The officer finally figured out what they were bothered by. This couples house was not to far from the Amish. During the spring, the Amish spread the manure on the fields. This couple had never smelled manure before.

The 'minority population concentration' in Lexington Park aside... St Marys has actually trended more republican in the last 20-25 years or so. The old school traditional democrats are either all dead or out of the picture. People look up the road and see the garbage trying to make their way down here and bring their crap with them and so far at the local political level it is not happening.

The republicans down here are playing the moderate card and so far that has been very successful.

Even in Maryland , there is Hollywood St Mary's Co , and the Hollywood neighborhood in north end of City of College Park has a strong identity .

Circa 1985 one of my exwives took a job at a beltway bandit place called ManTec as a computer geek. We moved to lower Calvert, great area we thought outside of work nothing for me to do but hunt, fish, control my urges and stay away from the Tiki Bar and Solomons Pier. :innocent0 I loved it but shit happens and it went south but now I'm really surprised how bad the area has gotten. :sad20:

With MD and NoVA. As people want to get their kids out of the crime/gang infested neighborhoods around the beltway or cant afford the neighborhoods around the beltway they move south north away from the epicenter. But as with all things they bring their entitled mentality with them and their kids run wild in many cases and get in the same trouble. The only difference is the PDs in these far out areas have a lot more time on their hands than neighborhoods they left.
