    Anyone done this?

I try not to shoot past 100 when black powder hunting.

I have a red dot on a couple PCCs and can get 4" or better groups at 100. Minute of deer should be no problem.

You talking Inline or a traditional side lock?

I know people who have done this for Inlines as well as shotguns.

My only thing is both an accurate kill as well as benefiting from the optics gain in low light. At Dawn and Dusk, 4x in a 30mm lens allows you to see brighter and clearer than the naked eye.

I had a 30mm red dot on my Black Diamond 10 years ago.
Honestly, a 2-7, 3-9, or fixed 4X on a ML or slug gun is far superior to a red dot.

All UTG Amazon stuff I assume?
Don't knock them until you've tried them. Would I take one into combat? No, but I wouldn't take any free floated AR type gun into combat. Not even one with a hand guard that cost as much as a small handgun.

Sighted it in on Friday, hunted with it Saturday.

Got a 3", 4 shot group at 100. Its my sons ML. I have the exact rifle with a Burris 3-9×40.

The red dot is light and handy. The scope wins.

I see rings and a mount showing up for Christmas. I've got a couple scopes laying around, will throw one on it. The boy will be happy.
