Did you you guys use a handguard removal tool to get the handgaurds off? When I was in, we had the M16A1 and those hangaurds were easy to take off compared to the new ones on my non free-floated AR's. Of course those old A1's had more mileage than the workers in the Red Light district. :innocent0 The delta ring springs were pretty loose.

Replying to add: I started with the M16A1, then transitioned to the A2 while I was in, and yes - the handguards on those A2's were a biatch to take off compared to any A1 I had. Partly due to the age and wear of the A1's, I'm sure, but I think part of it is also design.

That's just a theory though, don't put any money on it.

I have one now, but don't really need it. Never knew there was a tool while I was in the Army, but there were a few times I wished I had one.
