No fish but caught one of these yesterday on the beef suet. Cut hook and let him go. Had texture and feel of a underinflated football.

What pound lines are you guys running. I'm used to lake erie crappie, small and large mouth, yellow perch and a couple others. Butt I fear my set up would be too light for catfish
What the ?!?!?!? Notify NASA
Not real sure I'd want to eat something that ate something sprayed in WD-40. I guess if it never really made it into the bloodstream before you gut it.Bloodworms sprayed with WD40.

That depends on where you fish and what size catfish you target. If you are fishing an area where there arent many snags, lighter gear is all you need.I have rods lined with 8lb test up to 25lb test.
Out of a kayak and no snags,I caught catfish up to 15lbs with no trouble with 8lb test. But I have had smaller fish tangle me up and break off in rocks and wood.

LOL it's a Eastern Spiny Softshell turtle. Weird looking, first thing I noticed was the nose. Lot of neat critters in the river.
Any similar advice for cats in the potamac - ft Washington MD up to DC area? I'm thinking one of my fishing crazy kids might really be amazed pulling up one of those fat fishies... We've never targeted or caught a catfish before.
Was going to make slip rigs with no roll sinkers on 20lb leader, with 20# braid mainline, with either cat treble or circle hooks.
Baitwise I was thinking livers, but I have some frozen cutup mullet from a recent surf fishing trip. Definitely interested in other bait, rig, and water advice.

JamesDong loved pic of blue heron
Blue cats are invasive. Kill with fire.Razor clams worked well on the little choptank. Strawberry jello chicken caught this interesting iridescent little guy.
