I have an old marlin bolt action 22 that takes mags that look alot like the open one. At work now can post a pic when I get home. Could be for an old marlin.

open mag looks like it's for a Remington 500 series bolt action 511,513,521
I'd agree. I have two original 5-round Remington 521 mags in my hand right now, waiting for a hand-off to BrowningGuy, and I can easily compare them to the pics.

Right down the the way the side grooves are terminated at the top, the feed lip notches and the retaining notch on the rear spine, they are identical except for length and minor floorplate details.

The 5-rounders I have are obviously shorter, The floorplates on mine don't have an 'R' (for 'Savage'?) and have only have one hole on the forward end. Same otherwise.

BrowningGuy knows someone who would likely be interested in it.

The one in the bag looks like a older Marlin and the one without a bag looks like a current Savage mag.

That was my thought too. I'll check tonight at home.

Update: Very close but not exact.
