I was talking with my neighbor earlier today, he’s an older fella and legally blind, so he doesn’t shoot or hunt anymore. He has an old 16 gauge SxS with external hammers. From what I could make out of the name it is something Stahl. I could not find a S/N on it. He said it wasn’t Damascus steel, and that he had it for at least 35-40 years. He was thinking about selling it and was curious about value. I’m curious about its value as well, and approximate age. It has some scrolling on the barrels, the action seemed pretty tight.

According to a Google search there is likely more info on the oranginal butt plate and on the under side of the barrel. The M.G. STAHL is German for Machine Gun Steel. Appears to be WW1 - WW2 time frame. Saw some sell online between $275 - $450. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

It’s a Pieper or Bayard by the lock plates. I collect them. stahl is German for steel. The barrel flats will have Belgian proofs.
The left hammer is a poor replacement

    Here is a Bayard

Here is a pic of the lock plate of one of my Bayards made by Pieper. Pieper was a partner owning a large part of FN. They are quality guns but not all that valuable. I would guess with the miss matched hammer maybe $300.00
