Well, I bought the M1 Garand that was on consignment at United.

Late January '44 Springfield receiver, Winchester bolt, 1949 Springfield barrel. Wood is nice, nothing looks spliced back together. Bayonet, cleaning kit intact.

I grabbed this and I'm hanging onto it until my CMP order comes through. I don't know if I made the cutoff for my selection, which is out of stock. Biden's talking EO bans on "semi automatic" guns and all kinds of nonsense.

This one isn't CMP, it's an import which is interesting. I'll have the barrel, headspace and timing checked on it.

An import? Blue Sky? Arlington? Something else?

USGI stock? Does it have a cartouche?

I'm having trouble seeing your photos: they're not loading on my computer.

I wish I'd bought a few Blue Skys when they were in the bins at Woolworths.

Everybody should have at least two Garands.

My buddy has a Blue Sky Winchester Garand.
    It's a good shooting rifle.
The stock has been sanded and smoothed but I don't know if he did it or it was like that when he bought it years ago.
I replaced the rear sight cover spring for him towards the end of the summer.

I have a 1941 SA CMP special and a 1942 Winchester with a 1952 Danish VAR barrel and a bunch of Italian parts. My Garand appetite hasn’t been satisfied.

There is something special about the Garand: there is no other rifle quite like it. When you step up to the line with an M1 Garand, people will turn their heads and take notice. Strong men will respect you. Beautiful women will fall at your feet. The enemies of freedom will flee in dismay.

There is something about a Garand. It's my favorite gun to shoot. I also have a beretta and another Springfield from my dad

    Which went out of stock?

Special Rack grade. I wanted a shooter with a new barrel. I figured I'd get something more collectible later. Looks like my order of operations got backwards.

I may have made the cutoff, I just don't know.

Ok. I still saw Field Grade Winchester on site, but got worried for a second maybe I was loading a cached page. I just sent in for FG Winchester and a SG.

I ordered two from CMP. One in December (Rack - Special) and the second in January (Luck of the Draw SA or HR). No idea if I made the cutoff for the Rack-Special and I don't know what I will get with the luck of the draw (I don't really want a HR)

I really want a WWII era SA and I got impatient and bought a 1943 SA from a collector. It is a CMP Service Grade gun and yeah I paid over CMP prices but it's not a luck of the draw gun - it's November 1943 Springfield, exactly what I wanted. The way I looked at it was I paid more to get exactly what I want and it was cheaper considering gas and hotel than driving to CMP North or South and hoping they had what I wanted in stock.

Although I haven't picked it up yet it appears to by mostly all SA parts - Has a February 1943 SA barrel with a 1 & 2 muzzle and throat reading.

I haven't decided what I will do if I do get two more from CMP. May keep them both, may flip one or both to pay for this one.

My plan is to pick it up at my FFL on Tuesday (FFL closed Sunday & Monday).

Well, I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who's impatient/concerned.

Let's see if I can upload some photos...
