Shiny brass catches light better making it easier to find your brass when you go to pick it up....just my opinion

For what it's worth, we use them at AAF&G during matches. It all depends on how level the ground (or ground sheet) that they fall on. Sometimes it seems like you expend a lot of energy to get them all picked up. Still, I agree with the clown, as we get older, getting on your knees to pick up brass is a real pain.

Really? Buff7mm has been using one of those since 2013. It worked so well Mooseman built a kiddie version of it. :lol2:

You need to attend more Hooligan shoots and stay up-to-date my friend. We're on the cutting edge out here in the mountains. :D

    :innocent0

    Lol!

I know. I won't even blame it on the Rona. I've been half stepping. Coming up on the anniversary of the wifey's knee blowout. Gonna try and get back out there soon.

Looks like the gadget worked so well that Buff7mm pee'd his pants. Instead of standing in the pee, he could have captured it to wet tumble!

Good question! From Organic and Bio-Chemistry, we know that citric acid is a tri-carboxylic acid (with 6 Carbons) with pka values of 3.13, 4.76 and 6.40. It's used in bacterial systems to buffer pH from about 3-7. Glycolic acid is only a 2-carbon species with a pka of 3.6. In this sense, I would expect glycolic acid to behave more like its 2-carbon cousin, acetic acid... aka vinegar. There's no indication on the packaging what concentration the glycolic acid is, but since it's being used in a household setting, I'd wager it's already pretty dilute.

Since I'm a scientist... let's experiment! I have about 100 or so 40 S&W cases that I've accumulated over the last few years... I don't shoot this caliber, so I'll send them through the wet tumble with stainless steel pins, Dawn, and Oxi-Clean... I'll see what happens...

I might get yelled at for saying this, but i generally just use a squeeze of dish detergent. i have a thing of lemme shine, but i forget to use it from time to time.

The citric acid amount is determined by your water source...if you were to use distilled water for wet tumbling, you wouldn't need it at all...if you're on city water just a dash will be helpful, if you have well water in Northern Baltimore CO, a couple of dashes might be good.

I just recently started wet tumbling and I really like it. It is more work, but that’s ok. I bought the FART platinum series get up and bought the mesh tumbler sifting caps and transfer magnet too. I’ve concluded that I need a media separator or to “create” one bc separating the pins from the brass is still a pita.
Anyways, to my question. I finally found some lemi shine on the shelves...granule kind and a smaller bottle of liquid. How much of the granules do you use? I put a teaspoon in with 260 pieces of 9mm brass, 5lbs pins, and enough water to cover everything by an inch or 2. I’m using one packet of Frankfort Arsenal brass cleaning packs.

I use a heaping teaspoon and a big squirt of dawn. That's all you need

Squaregrouper you called it out on using Milliard citric acid. A one pound bag will last the average reloader years.

I've got a Extreme Tumblers Rebel 17, they say 1/4 teaspoon of Lemishine, not to use too much. I think it probably binds with any minerals in the water to keep them from building up on the brass. And 1 tablespoon of Dawn, 2 tablespoons with old HXP the first time they are cleaned.
