I give flashlights away because no one has enough flashlights.

Funny. Just before seeing this post my kid asked me for a flashlight.
I have one about the size of a lipstick in my pocket everyday. Small keychain. A couple the size of sharpies. 2 in the nightstand, 3 in the kitchen, 2 big old lanterns in the mudroom, 1 in the car, 2 in the truck and several little maglights here and there.
    I'm gay for flashlights.

My flashlight obsession is a running joke in my family. They are everywhere but strangely there are none on my firearms. There are 5 lights in my cars including some magnetic nebo puck lights. Those are useful for roadside repairs, which fortunately I have not needed for about 7 years. Almost forgot about the glow sticks and road flares. Those are good in a pinch if I've let the batteries sit too long.

I am a light snob, I would rather have 1 good flashlight than 10 marginal ones. I carry a Fenix PD36R. My old light was a Fenix UC35 which is now backup. My 509 has a tlr8a which is an awesome WML. I have a Surefire X300U on a FNX45, but I am not a fan of this light, i might try some different switch options. I also like the enforce WML, which i have on my blackout pistol, and on my 870 tactical. I have the little fenix on my keychain. I have lots of others, but they are all for others to use, I always have my edc light with me.

I really like the fenix lights.

    tldr; I use 7, but 4 is min: 1 EDC, 1 Headlamp, 1 pistol, 1 shotgun/rifle

Torches and pitchforks neither needs batteries.

Actually I have several small ones handy but their primary function is to get me to the matches so I can start lighting the kerosene lamps, I much prefer them for general lighting.

And Aladdin mantle lamps for reading or other detail work

I still have three oil lamps but used to have one in every room in the days before house generators. Now, between the generators and LED flashlights with long run rechargeable batteries, the oil lights are mostly for display.

I remember when we had a big Aladdin hanging from a spring loaded reel in the Great Room. That would light almost like a 100 Watt bulb during the storms that took down the power lines. Ahh, those were the days.

When is the last time we checked the batteries in all those flashlights? Do we have fresh spares?

I had an annual routine for smoke detectors before the ten-year sealed versions, but no flashlight regimen. That should be a thing.

I agree. I have the recharge date written on each flashlight and routinely check them. With the long life lithium batteries, they don't have to be recharged as often as the old Ni Cads did.

I have a kerosene pressure lantern. Throws out a lot of light.

No such thing as too many flashlights.

I also strongly believe that every single defensive weapon, be it a rifle or handgun, should have a mounted flashlight.

The first thing I ask when people show me their home defense firearms is typically... "where's your light dude?".

Both family vehicles have 2 flashlights, one bright one and one pen size light.

Every floor in the house also has a flashlight within easy access.
