It's easy. Just put the case in a press with a flat punch. I have probably done this hundreds of times in the last 50 years. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase reclaimed primers. I never had one fail that I had reused.

I’ve had a couple that took a second strike, but I think that was the firing pin spring wearing out in my Glock (just replaced it after 3 in 17 light strikes on each of 5 mags of reloads using federal primers). Well, my firing pin was also filthy (never cleaned it in at least 2k if not 3k rounds).
And those reused primer failures were fairly recent…

6 months ago folks were complaining they couldn't react fast enough to order primers and powder when they became available online. I think Midways approach has made it easier for everyone to get what they need.
I just tune out people complaining about the price. Sure, I wish it was half the price or less like it was 2 years ago. But hey, way cheaper than commercially loaded ammo in the end and I can GET them. Maybe in a year or three the price will be down a couple cents a primer cheaper and get them in cases or several boxes at a time to spread the shipping and hazmat.

Midway allows one brick, so all hazmat and shipping charges are applied to just 1k - about $30. Brownell's seems to allow two bricks, still preventing hoarding but halving the per primer shipping cost.

I started reloading about 9 months ago so I've had to take whatever I could get. I did get lucky and score a case of Winchester SRP #41 from Grafs for $250 to get me started.
You sound like a guy who will have primers.
There's another announced price increase next month. On primers, the announced increase is 15%. Add that coming increase to recent Midway and Brownell's published prices, and that's probably pretty much current market price, when primers are available.
We might one day see .025- .03 primers again. But I wouldn't want to hold my breath waiting.

The small shop near my 2nd house in KS has had primers consistently all through the drought. Not just any old primers, but large and small, pistol and rifle. They limit to 2 boxes (200 primers) per person per day. They had them at $5 per 100 until the last shipment. Now they are up to $7.50 per 100. The owner of the shop says he’ll lift the limits when he can order primers and get them without restrictions. He has a decent supply of powder too. I was buying 200 primers 1-2 times a week while I was out there so I don’t have to break into my hoard while doing my weekly shooting (I’m there intermittently for work about 40% of the year). Plus, I shoot at least weekly while I’m out there. The range I belong to out there ($100 a year if you want to be real jealous) has a trap range, a pistol range, and a 200m rifle range. If I want to shoot further, the boss owns 3 full sections about 45 minutes away, and I can reasonably shoot 1800m unobstructed with a backstop. Assuming the corn isn’t in the way.

Wish I would have read your whole message instead of stopping at the link and immediately buying some. Total was $95 for 1000 which isn't too bad, but could have been $78 if I used the code. Thanks for sharing

Surprisingly quick response from Ballistic Products, order cost was reduced to $77 for 1000 primers after emailing their customer service

Umm. Are you forgetting to put a 1 in front of those numbers. Isn’t the total $177 for 5000 primers shipped, or am I missing something?
