The latest e-mail to rally the antis contains some chuckles (amidst the predictable rhetoric) and some sign-making tips from Big Brother (or shall we say 'Big MOM'?):

"So far, we have generated more than 8,000 contacts to the legislature in support of the governor's proposals. And, tomorrow, we will host one of the largest rallies in Maryland this year."
    ____________
ME: 8,000 contacts is the stuff of braggery? PUH-lease!
We'll see if they get even half the turnout we did on Feb 6 (or will tomorrow). More from their e-mail and web page follows. https://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/50979/images/Sign Slogan Suggestions.pdf

    Making Signs

Signs cannot be on a pole or stick - they must be handheld. No derogatory language and no references to "gun control" (use gun violence prevention.)

    Suggested sign messages are here:

    Important Tips:

DO NOT refer to “gun control” or to taking guns away. DO refer to “gun violence prevention.”

DO NOT refer to “licensing guns” or “licensing gun owners.” DO refer to “licensing handgun purchasers.”

    Examples:

    Licensing Saves Lives

    Gun Violence is Preventable

81% of voters support licensing of handgun purchasers!

    Vote for Common Sense

    Vote for Firearm Safety Act

    Enough is enough.

8 out of 10 Marylanders want fingerprinting and safety training.

Break the silence, End the violence

The Firearms Safety Act will save lives!

Yes, we can…protect the 2nd Amendment & Reduce Gun Violence

    Pass the Firearms Safety Act!

I own a gun and don’t mind giving my fingerprint.

Licensing my handgun is a small price to pay.

    Support O’Malley’s balanced approach!

Gun violence affects our state’s mental health.

    I’m a hunter and don’t need/want an assault weapon.

Assault weapons have no place in a civilian’s home.

    Licensing holds purchasers accountable.

    Straw purchases are flawed purchases.

Guns Don’t Kill People. People with guns kill people.

8 of 10 murders are committed with guns

Handguns are killing our kids – license them and save lives!

Licensing keeps guns out of dangerous people’s hands.

Vote YES on Firearms Safety Act.

    Sign Slogan Suggestions

Think about using some of these powerful slogans as you make signs for the
rally. Focus on the positive, and think about incorporating the name of your group.

    Life saver:
    Fingerprinting

    Life saver:
    Assault weapon ban

    Life saver:
    Improved gun dealer regulation

    Life saver:

Orwell would be proud. But they are good at propaganda.

I like the part about licencing children though..

In fact I like all of it we could print this advice and hand it out to our supporters .. so they know how grass root organising works.

A long time Friend and coworker that is insanely liberal and. Orderline rabidly ANTI-gun mentioned the 81-85% figure to me the other day. He said he knew it was bull$h!t because 80+% of the general population can't agree on anything.
If only he'd apply that common sense to his other opinions.

    I will quote Patrick here...

"At this point, we don't care about them."

    Pretend they do not exist.

One of us from within MSI will be posting an update for tomorrow, relating to logistics and procedural stuff.

    Hopefully by 8.

    Please stand by.

Fixed it for them. I modified some of the suggestions from another thread...kudos to those who contributed to this parody.

    They can thank me later.

NOTE: I intend this only for use on the internet. Unlike demonstrations in meatspace, I don't need a permit to post things on the internet...YET.

If they could just pass a law that made it illegal to break the law, utopia will be found.

Like I always say when gun control comes up: Wouldn't it be easier and more effective to simply make it illegal to shoot someone? :innocent0

google is your friend, I am not.
wait, dont refer to gun control or gun licensing but then down below i see slogans about licensing?

i am half tempted to go down with a sign that violates all these rules "Thank you O'Malley for banning handguns! :D " but then i would not want to inflate their numbers.

incidentally, anyone who carries "I own a gun and don’t mind giving my fingerprint." should be IDed and anyone who offers them safety training should be boycotted and ostracized. one for all and all that.
