VA Concealed Carry Permit Required?

Hi there,

I have a UTAH Out of State CCW permit. I recently moved to Virginia. As a RESIDENT, can I still use my UTAH CCW, or do I now need to get the Virginia CCW? I have seen conflicting information on this with regards to what happens as a resident. I do know that before I was a resident, the Utah one was good to go in VA.

Lazy answer -Within a certain time period of moving to Virginia , you must get a Va Resident Permit . ( I want to say 90 days ,but didn't yet confirm .)

No your UT permit is not valid once you claim residency in VA. You need to contact your local Circuit Court Clerk to apply for the VA resident permit. Once you have the VA permit inform UT that you have a new address. Failing to do so could further complicate the renewal process.

I have been a UT CFP instructor since 2007.

When or if you renew your Utah I believe you also need to send a copy of your VA permit. I had to do that when I renewed after moving from MD to NC.
