I thought it was funny, "Police say they have been aware of this home due to an apparent issue with some kind of gun range on the property."

So, you live in the country, shoot some guns and folks around you cry boo hoo.
    Too damn bad.
    Suck it.

It's like people move next to a dairy farm and then cry about the smell.

    Ha Ha Ha. :lol2:

I'm sure they were aware because I'm sure the liberal neighbors out in the country called police every time he shot. We have a couple of home ranges in my district, and we get calls about them all the time. The liberal neighbors HATE them for having guns. It's SO SCARY!

interested to see how this works out

the homeowner called 911 to report a break-in. While on the phone with police, the homeowner fired at the suspect – striking and killing him.

    Also

Goff says the victim was not armed. Officials say the homeowner and suspect did not know one another.

Whatever he said on 911 will either be damning or exonerating. The homeowner is cooperating.

so wait there are two threads on this?

In the other threads someone says they were on the call

IDK, the fact that he was on the phone reporting an attempted break-in, and then got in an audible scuffle on the phone, followed by shots.... then got the phone and stated "OK, I think he's dead, what do I do now?" will help him.

(I listened to the call and was reading the CAD comments in real time)

The MoCo Police range has been out near Poolesville for years. When development started close by the neighbors started complaining about the noise of gunfire. Too bad...the range was there first. One new resident complained saying the realtor that sold her the house told her the range would be gone within a year...NOT!

I lived in Poolesville for a few years and loved everything about it other than being in Montgomery County, That alone was enough for me to move back to Frederick County. Regardless of whether it was justified self-defense or not I am betting that this homeowner will have a rough road ahead if the intruder was in fact unarmed.

Part of the article states that a service company, "Pro Tec" was in the driveway. When fox news called the company, they stated that an employee was involved in the shooting "but is ok".

Seems like there's more to this story. Pro Tec is a home inspection company. Maybe the service employee had an unexpected/unauthorized visitor or helper?

Pure speculation by me at this point...

If he was in fear for his safety which is a legitimate concern when someone has broken into and entered your home illegally I don’t think it matters if he ended up being armed or not. Someone breaks into your home you can legally respond with force to stop the threat.

I have no idea on the facts of the shooting to say whether it was justified or not. My only point was that in MoCo if he shot an unarmed home invader he may have a long road ahead regardless.

Fortunately he took action and is alive to get to travel that long road. I don’t think you have that much of an opportunity of time to weigh the consequences when faced with a criminal intruder. Hopefully the homeowner has taken advantage of his right to legal counsel and that long road if the facts are what they appear to be may get shorter.

    So much derp.

No matter the facts, I have learned that most of the gun community will convict you for using a gun in defense.

Seems like everyone here is acting like a battered codependent.

    And to repeat:

IDK, the fact that he was on the phone reporting an attempted break-in, and then got in an audible scuffle on the phone, followed by shots.... then got the phone and stated "OK, I think he's dead, what do I do now?" will help him.

The whole thing is on the 911 call, the homeowner is cooperating.
