Montgomery County is so awesome. They are always building and expanding.
Anyway, I'm thinking about purchasing one more rifle to add to my collection.
I need something heavy caliber and was looking at a Barrett M107.
Does anyone have experience with one or have one that I can shoot at the range to try it out?

The Barrett M107A1 is banned as a copycat of a banned assault weapon- the Barrett light .50 cal semiauto (whatever that is...).

Handy reference, courtesy of the Maryland State Police:

    https://pilot-mdsp.maryland.gov/Org...LicensingDivision/Firearms/FirearmSearch.aspx

I actually contacted Barrett about this.

Q: Has Barrett ever officially referred to the M82 series of rifles as the "Light Fifty" in documentation or advertising?

A: That was marketed with the original M82 rifles back in the 80s when Mr. Barrett first designed/released the rifle. The term has slacked off and we no longer “advertise” it as the light fifty.

I guess I'll just go with the M82CQ with a 20" barrel since it's not on the silly list.
That model doesn't seem to be banned anywhere and is a new Semi Auto model.
Has a fluted chrome lined barrel too! Lighter in weight.

If the parts interchange, then it's still banned. Doesn't matter if it's named on the list. It'll still fail the copycat test.

I have zero experience and am only posting this because, out of coincidence, one of my highpower buddies sent it to a bunch of us, earlier today:

It is NOT a copycat. It is a copy or imitation.

Copycat in MD law is the set of requirements that semi-auto center fire rifles cannot be short than 29" OAL and cannot have more than one of the eveil features.

I think the fact that these things cost...

    $9995: M107
    $9000~: M82

Means that you're looking at about $20K in costs to prove that the complete operating systems are not interchangeable on them to MSP.
