Anyone know or hear about this? Looks like this would result in a de facto ban on duck hunting in Pohick because you won’t be able to launch your boat from there with a shotgun in it.

A proposed change to the Fairfax County Code has the potential to affect hunting with firearms on parkland within Fairfax County, including managed shotgun hunts and access for waterfowl hunting.

At their July 28, 2020 meeting, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted to authorize a public hearing to consider amendments to Chapter 6 of the Fairfax County Code, governing weapons.

The public hearing is scheduled to be held before the Board on September 15, 2020, at 4:30 p.m.

The proposed amendments to Chapter 6 will prohibit the possession, carrying and transportation of firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof in County buildings, parks, recreation and community centers and at permitted events and areas adjacent to permitted events, with specific exceptions.

This ordinance would apply to public parks owned or operated by the county and potentially NOVA Parks properties since it is created and controlled in part by the county along with other jurisdictions. The prohibition would only extend to NOVA Parks if all participating jurisdictions enact a prohibition on firearms in parks and the governing body of NOVA Parks passes a resolution concurring with the prohibition. This ordinance would not apply to state and/or federal parkland. This ordinance will not affect the county archery program.

The current version of the draft ordinance includes language to provide an exception for wildlife management events by county, state, and federal entities, including the Fairfax County Deer Management Program, but there is the possibility for this to be amended before it is voted on.

more of the same bullsh1t. criminals DON't and WON't follow their laws. ALL this crap does is prevent law-abiding citizens from hunting and protecting themselves. which i guess is their plain and simple intent. every single gun owner needs to get out and vote each and every time. begging and hoping that the dems won't inflict further gun control crap on us will not work, voting in those that will protect our 2a rights, will.
