Ok, Just got my first can and am shooting some subsonics and regular 5.56mm, this is addicting, Now I must have another can, I am thinking the 300 whisper or the 300 blkout. I already have the upper reciever and rails, so which barrel ?
I hope this is not in the wrong place.

From what I understand they are the same round with a different name?? The Whisper name was trademarked...Atleast thats what I've been told...FWIW:)

.300 blackout, since you can shoot .300 whisper through it, but i dont know why you would want to. Especially with .300 BLk being mass produced by ammo companies and SAAMI certified.

I did a little research on the Net and decided to go 300 blk out, 14.5 inch barrel, now that the trust is done, time for a new can and new upper build.

    A number of people...
    Offhand barrels are available from
    Cmmg.
    Noveske.
    Aac.
    Wilson combat.

A couple of custom barrel makers.

And why 14.5 and not 8, 9 or 10? Or you planning to pin on the suppressor mount?

I believe what was said in the MDShooters thread was the Blackout can be shot in a Whisper barrel, but not the other way 'round. There is a small difference - read the info in the links provided to verify.

Blackout throats are longer, like 5.56mm. Whisper(R) may have a shorter throat, like 223. So Blackout has more velocity potential for supersonic. For this reason, you can shooter Whisper(R) in a Blackout (like you can shoot 223 in a 5.56mm), but shooting Blackout in a Whisper is potentially like shooting 5.56mm in a 223 chamber - pressures may go up.

White Oak is not making them from the emails I got. I guess John may custom cut one, but WOA isn't making them in any quantity and doesn't plan to.

White Oak has made them for me from both Kreiger and Shilen blanks.

I called and emailed. Both times was told, no, never, and no how.

No, we are not doing 300 Blackout.

    Sincerely,

    Subject: 300 BLK barrels?

Will you be producing 300 BLK barrels for the Ar-15 anytime soon? I'm looking for one with a 9 or 10" length

That is White Oak Armament you contacted. I used White Oak Precision. I know they are sort of the same company - but White Oak Precision is John Holliger's made-to-order shop and White Oak Armament is the mass produced brand.

Yeah I know John custom cuts his own barrels. In that respect I guess he would make you whatever you wanted.
