I am thinking about going on a black bear hunt in 2018.

I really do not want to have any kind of taxidermy mount done, no rug, head, or shoulder mount.

What are some other ideas that can be done with a single bear hide?

Possibly a vest. Depending on your size and the size of the bear, I think it would make a great look.

So why bear hunt if no traditional trophy is desired if successful - really fond of bear meat, just satisfied with a hero pic, for the thrill/experience?

I wonder how many bear skins you would need for a coat? Aside from looking like Grizzly Adams, you could probably only wear it in certain parts of Montana.
    :D

I had a rug made from mine. It hangs on the wall. If I didn't live in Maryland I would put it on Ebay. [If you didn't know, it's illegal to sell most trophies in MD, even if they aren't native to MD]

    CWW,

To answer your question, I have been researching MeatEater and others on youtube and they all say that black bear meet is very good.

And I have never tried it, but I want to.

    And for the thrill, experience.

And I did ask for advice on how to use the pelt.

not trying to be a douche just asking cause I am kind of in the same category and to understand why you weren't interested in the traditional mementos.
It also intrigues me but I don't want to kill one just to kill one and also don't want spend thousands on a full mount(have no where to put it)- same with a rug. I would do the skull. Had bear stew once, not bad at all.

ideas: slippers, throw/blanket, jacket, vest, holster

No, another taxidermist made it. Not my bear costume either. No idea what it would cost to make one.

So you have a different one? :innocent0

You could probably make a throw/blanket out of it. Table runner. Hide wall mount (like left stretched on a whicker frame). Moccasins/slippers (is imagine many pairs). Gloves. Seat covers. Cape.

I think I am out of ideas now.

For meat, you must make sure it is well cooked. Bears often carry trichinosis.

Id keep the skull and get it bleach white treatment. Sell the hide if you dont want to do anything with it.

    dress up time?

Yes, this is a real bear hide costume
Wow that would get you shot here...
