Has anyone ever had issues shipping firearms? I was trying to ship some to Utah for hunting through the post office. I had them unloaded, in a hard case with a lock on it, and in inconspicuous packaging ( all of this is allowed and required under regulation 423.3 of the us post office). When I went to the post office the woman was very rude and told me she wouldn't ship firearms. Afterwards I asked her to look up the rules and she said no because "she knew there was now way". I pulled it up on my phone and she read it and started yelling "NO GUNS" repeatedly and I left because of how uncomfortable I had felt.

I then went to another post office and the lady told me she didn't know anything about the rules and to call a number to get help on sending them. The number wasn't real. I feel very discouraged and discriminated against since I know this is perfectly legal as I have done it before. Does anyone have any advice for how to get a hold of someone higher up in the post office (since this seems to be impossible as well)? Or alternative options?

Ask to speak to the Postmaster and report this unacceptable behavior from USPS employees.

Also contact our Representative and your Senators is writing.

Well that is quite unfortunate. Yes, by all means raise the issue to USPS management, and since you obviously need to ship your goods now, do so via FEDEX as stated, and be sure to tell the USPS supervisor that you did so. Heck, do so in a letter to the superintendent of the USPS, and CC the White House.

And after you get back from your trip, skedaddle on over to the intro forum if you haven't already and say hi.

Why should he spend the extra money?

Postal regs allow long guns to be shipped via USPS.

Makes these ignorant government employees do their jobs, which includes knowing the freaking regs.

Thery work for us, not the other way round.

Yep, I would’ve asked to speak to her supervisor immediately, would’ve shut her up pretty quick

How about telling us which post offices you went to? These people are required to follow the law just like the rest of us. It's time to name names and take a stand.

One of my biggest complaints is the Post Office refusing to ship handguns and ammo and we are forced to use Fedex and UPS. The "Hazmat Charge" is another thing we are held hostage to. Trump aught to drain the damn swamp at the Post Office too! :mad54:

USPS locations are self contained SJW domestic terrorism centers.

They employ tummy barometers to determine whether or not they'll do their effing job.

Trump should redirect his Enemy Of The People comments at postal workers.

The few times I have had issues I printed out the reg and highlighted the appropriate parts. That normally took care of it for me.

Work your way up the food chain until you get to someone who can read the regs and doesn't want to loose their job. Always take names on the way up and give them all at each stage so whoever you talk to will know their name will be added at the next stage.

I doubt that young guys would know what "Going Postal"
Thought it was in the Lexicon now, like "Going Maxine Waters" or "Going Guam tipping over - Dem Rep. Hank Johnson."

After that experience I would pay the extra money for FedEx. I would not want my firearm mailed to God-knows-where...

Or at least go to another PO location.

Try this. Online complaint form gets filled out. Also has option to call USPS customer service. Hope you got the names of the clerks.

Had the same problem shipping a rifle from local FFL01 (his postage machine was broken so I printed the address myself) to a FFL01 in Cal. Was told usps would not mail guns!!! Sent it UPS and didn't say it was a rifle and all went well. MD is such a pain in the a$$.

Google the reg an take it with you. FFL can ship handguns by USPS. You can ship long guns to yourself an any FFL. File the USPS complaint online so it can go up the down the chain of command.

    Clerks are dumbasses!

Similar problem but with UPS. I was shipping a firearm out of state to a FFL dealer. I went down to the UPS Main office down down because that was the only place they will ship a firearm from locally. When I told the lady it was a firearm, she actually sneered at me and began acting like I had some kind of virus in the box or something. She then stated that it was required that I produce a copy of the dealers FFL that I was shipping to. This later turned out to be a false statement. The receiving dealer was closed on Monday and Tuesday. That meant that I could not get in touch with him for three days. I tucked my tail between my legs and started the thirty minute drive back home.

On the way home I got to thinking that I had a FedEx branch just around the block from my house. I thought I would stop in and just see what they said. I walked in with the box in hand, told them I was shipping it to a dealer out of state, they looked up his web site online, and shipped the box. It was no different than if I had brought in any other package.

I was really only upset about being treated like I had leprosy at UPS for trying to ship a firearm.

I had the same problem last year. I was sending a rifle to get some custom work done.

Trying to follow the rules I told the lady at the counter the package had a rifle in it. She told me in no uncertain terms and increasing volume that I couldn't do that, it was illegal, immoral and ridiculous.

Just as she was taking a deep breath to berate me some more another postal employee walked out of the back and asked what was going on.

She started to rant some more but he told he it was no problem mailing a long gun and rattled off all the details. So I got it mailed.

I didn't get an apology from the woman but the guy gave me the 'sorry' shrug.
