Anyone have any experience using these loads? I have a 100+ year old Colt revolver that I’m looking to put some soft shooting loads through and I’m wondering if it’s worthwhile checking out these loads from Choice. Any comments or experience with these? I’d be interested in hearing about it. Thanks!

Maybe I can shine some light on a few things for you.
Colt revolvers were only strong enough/ proofed for black powder loads only until about 1906 with serial numbers going up to about 196,000. So if you gun is older than that,( lower serial # then 196,000) I'd only shoot soft black powder loads in it. ( 30 grains of black powder max, that's what they were rated for back then)
It wasn't so much that the frame isn't strong enough, it was the weaker material used in the cylinders and the barrel that won't hold up to smokeless powder loads, maybe even cowboy loads.
I would first suggest you take it to a qualified gunsmith, have them check it out and see what they say is safe to shoot.
As to your original question, Choice cowboy ammo is of good materials and quality, as are all commercially made cowboy loads.
    Hope this helps.

I would not use loads made with smokeless powder on a gun made for black powder. The impulse from smokeless powder is much sharper than BP and can damage the gun. If you can find .45 Colt made with BP, that would be acceptable to use. Just remember to clean with hot water and relube after shooting.

Actually the s/n in question was 192,000 , and the year 1900 for Smokless certification .

I ordered a box of ammo to try.

The loads were consistent and the ammo was accurate.

I will likely order a few more boxes to keep on hand.
