    One small issue:

New set of guitar strings - $6
New set of cello strings - $200

Guess I always got the cheap strings on my daughter's cello. Whenever one broke, it was about $15 at the shop, including installation and tuning.

my younger son took up the trumpet in middle school. It cost $1,200 new. After freshman year of high school and the music requirement had been satisfied, he took it to a pawn shop and they offered him $60. Ended up selling to another student for $120. Try a pawn shop.
