Anyone doing airsoft pistols as an alternative for training while we are all locked in....

I saw there was a Shadow2 and figured why not. Just thinking about it...

I got a bunch of airsoft when I used to play during my college days. The gas blowback pistol replicas has a nice sense of realism and I have been around people who use them for training (can use same holster, mag pouches, accessories, etc.), but the magazines are fragile and expensive for rough tactical reloads. Aside from that, it's a step up to dry firing as you can practice draws and shot placements and even jam clearance if you into that.

If you decide to go for it, use propane instead of greengas (propane adapter) or even get the CO2 mags and lube the metal bits up good.

I go to airsoft games regularly and have airsoft analogues of most of my real steel. It's a good way to get exercise and have fun.

Here's my FNX-45s (airsoft is on the left, real one is on the right)

I'm a big fan of using airsoft as a training substitute, present circumstances or not. Airsoft guns these days are very sophisticated and allow for many of the drills that you could do with a real firearm, and will likely inspire you to do some drills you don't do enough already.

Another option is BB or pellet versions of what you shoot.

I have the pellet version of the M17. I did a write up, with pics compared to my real M17, in the airgun section.

I went through Evike to get an airsoft copy of my STI DVC 3-gun. Unfortunately, it went down a few months after purchase. One tiny set screw broke, I tried replacing it. Evike told me what size it is, but didn't offer a replacement. Eh, I bought a new one, it's sitting in my gun room now. I'll try it out tomorrow.

The old neighbors who knew me when I was working have no problems. The newer neighbors (past city dwellers) thought I was a right wing radical. That all changed after I saved their dog from a rabid coon and their chickens from becoming yote food. (now they listened to me and built a fenced in chicken run)

Somehow as they get older, I seem to get smarter.

Not so much here, as I don't have a garage, but John Lovell of Warrior Poet has at least 1 YouTube video about it. KWA makes really nice blowback pistols. I have their USPC. Its lighter in weight, recoil, and trigger pull, and there are some visible differences yet still remarkably similar. I think it's a great idea, especially since many firearms don't have rimfire equivalents, and ammo prices are up 50-100%...

Where do you go? Been to the indoor place in Glen Bernie a few times. Fun and great reflex and pie cutting training but it can feel small.

Replay Airsoft in Glen Burnie. 99% sure we're talking about the same place. :D Not sure when the last time you were there but they have done some remodeling to increase the size of the arena.

Was thinking of one of these. Ad was in my VFW magazine and they also sell on Amazon.

    Not actually made by Springfield.

I have the BB version of the M1 Carbine. I keep meaning to do a review.

It is almost (by feel) exactly the same weight as a real M1 Carbine.

BBs are a bit of a pain to load.

I got an airsoft copy of my CZ75 pistol, for some training round the house when the wife and kids are away. I don't want to be completely unfamiliar with maneuvering around the house with a handgun.

That should be a stock photo for the libs when they declare......

"Why did the Cop shoot that kid? It was only a replica!!"

Of course, I was the only one in my college class, including a couple of cops, who survived the "Shoot, Don't Shoot" film our Prof. played in class. Of course, this was back in the 70s, and kids weren't as crazy then.

Yes, I shot the early teen pointing the 1911 at me.

Yeah that's it. Probably been 5 or 6 months; busy with the baby and work, so I'll have to check it out once this virus crap goes away.

I'm pretty happy with the Umarex 1911 that I bought off of Amazon CO2 works well in warm weather and is a lot more affordable than shooting ammo.
That's how I learned how to handle pistols before I fired my first real one.
