I’m looking for optics for a new AR 458 SOCOM build.

This time I’m thinking a more conventional low power adjustable scope, perhaps a Trijicon Credo HX 1-8x28 2900031. Also looking at a similar NightForce, but I think I would favor the illumination of the Trijicon..

    suggestions?

Both of those are pretty good. If you run with a Credo, make sure it's the HX; those have fiber optic illumination. Given the general limitations of 458 SOCOM range-wise, you might also consider an Accupoint 1-6 or even 1-4, depending on application.

I would choose the scope that offers the best retical type for that round.
I might even choose a slightly lesser quality scope if it had a better suited bdc.
