Thanks, I'd like to get the 24.8 grain up around 955 fps and see how accurate they are. I think that's a bit optimistic with a stock gun. Time will tell.

This guy Steve has some excellent videos on takedown and modification of the Avenger. He also makes AVS slugs which I am going to try as soon as they get here.

He is not a machinist or mechanic and definitely not a public speaker but he does a good job at explaining how to work on the rifle from an average persons standpoint.

Got to shoot at a little more distance with it today. Very pleased with it. Roughly 40 yards. All I did was use the next lowest mil dot...I was shooting one of the small 4 resettable swingers....it was almost too easy. Too fun. The Stoeger springer needed quite a bit more holdover, but still hit consistently. I shot about 25-30 shots...used about 500psi...So far, I am pleased with the Avenger.

One thing I found out that I never really had a problem with in lower powered guns. You have to clean these or groups will start to open up. I use CLP and the patches come out black. I guess it has something to do with the high velocity. ( I am using a 2500 PSI setting on the regulator) Dry patches after keep it from dieseling.

This morning I shot about 20 rounds at 50yards. Leaning on my pickup, I managed to keep a one inch group with Diablo field 25 gn pellets. I need to order more pellets from Pyramid Air soon.

Went back out after supper to shoot up a board as I blew up my small pellet trap this morning. :banghead: (Forgot the note about not using the avenger on the small trap)

Anywho, I started at 35 yards and blew right through the board. Just for ha ha's, I decided to try it at 50. Here is a pic of four AVS 32 gn flat base slugs going clean through.

Man, that gun has some power!

Well, my Avenger was doing great until yesterday. My POI started shifting and I couldn't figure out what was happening. During one trip back to the refill tank I thought I heard something rattling in the stock. I took it n the house and started taking the stock off. After I took off the top screw for the buttstock, it sort of fell off. It turned out the lower attachment point for the butt stock deteriroated and fell apart. The plastic is very brittle and around the mount it fell off in little pieces. :wtf:

So I emailed Pyramid, were I bought it, and they emailed back that customer service sent my message to the Technical Department.

I just happened to notice that they now are offering them with a wooden stock.

You can bet when they hit the after market, I buy one for sure. ;)

Just got the reply yesterday afternoon. A new butt stock is on its way. I'm going to beef up the lower attach point with aluminum and epoxy and can't wait until Air Venturi starts selling the wood stocks they are putting on the new guns. Other than this little bump in the road, I am extremely happy with this rifle. Would I like to own a FX Impact, absolutely. However, they aren't cheap and I want to make sure I am going to stick with high fill pressure rifles before dropping $2000 on one.

I got the donnfl adapter in today....it slides inside the barrel shroud, slips over the internal barrel, but engages the internal threads, leaving a 1/2x20 thread at the end for accessories....even without adding any accessories, it stiffens up the front end...I have a barrel band coming too, to further lock everything up tight...I hope to get some shooting in tomorrow with it.

I put a couple of rounds through it....It is sort of backyard friendly...if the pellet trap wasnt so dang loud....I have options to keeping the bark of the rifle down to acceptable levels...but it hits so hard...guess that is the next iteration...May take a drive to a secluded spot and zero it back in....but it's also a good day to try some fly fishing...or fly some RC stuff...ugh...too many options...but, the adapter is nice and solid...highly recommended.

I have the same problem with my .22 bullet trap ringing even with .22 pellets. Now I have switched to another type of pellet trap. I bought some play sand and fill old coffee cans and orange juice bottles with it. If you dampen the sand, it lasts longer than the can or plastic bottle. I put 1 or 11/2 inch stickers on the target and just rotate it to a new spot when needed. When the can or bottle is ready for the recycling bin, I shake out the sand, reclaim the lead for making bullets and pour it in another container.

The nice thing about these is I can set them all about the woods instead of just one position. If you drink coffee and juice like we do, you will have a good supply of containers in no time.

I just got back from tuning my gun for 15.89 grain hades pellets. The reg is set to 1200 psi and the hammer spring is 1.5 turns in. I'm getting 975-990 fps over a 30 shot strings. That works out to 27-28 fpe. The tune is pretty accurate for the Crossman pellets and very accurate for the hades.

ETA with the donnyfl sumo at this tune the gun makes almost no noise at all.

I use a Sumo also on my .25 and it is super quiet. Since I want more impact down range, I use 33 grain JSB Exact King and 34 gn AVS slugs. I have the rifle tuned so I can use either at 50 yards but I have to hold a inch to the left when using the AVS slugs. I have the regulator set for 2200 which gives me a couple of good magazines.

    15.89 @ 975-990 is 33.5-34.5 FPE
