I got the last one they in stock today at Andrews AFB Exchange.

A no thrills, plain Jane, Mil-Spec Springfield Armory 1911A1 in .45 ACP.

7 day wait and I can bring it home.

They also had a beautiful Cimarron Model No 3 Schofield in .45 Long Colt I fell in love with but foolishly left behind.

With some great help here on the forum developing my more accurate 45acp reloads as well as prodding to get a better 1911, I got a used Kimber 1911 stainless Target a few months ago. Finally realized a goal of mine to hit a full magazine at my 12" Torso target at 50 yards offhand (2 handed). I did manage to hit on average 5 out of 7 with one hand but I'll have to work more on that now. At least it give me something to aim for :)

That's pretty impressive - 50 yards is a good bit to hit accurately with open sights on a pistol.

GI 1911, ATI , & Kimber stainless target

Learned my lesson on 1911 extractor. The Kimber I purchased used and did not clean the extractor. Did not go into battery on me on the last round of the Stemmers Pin shoot. It had been acting up this week and I thought a regular cleaning was the issue. Extractor was tight on the rim. pulled it out and Cleaned it out last night and then put 60 rounds through it today.

    wow, just wow!!!!
this is better then pornhub lol
I don't know if you're specifically referring to the 2020 DW Valor I posted or the thread in general, but if it's the Valor, thanks!

"Fun" story about the Valor. I'm the reason folks in MD can get the 2020 Stainless Valor. I had no idea that the MD Handgun Roster was specific to model number, so when I ordered that Valor I didn't realize it was going to be rejected. It sat at my FFL who generously agreed to hold it until I could go through the BS of doing the petition to get it added to the roster. That gun was delivered to my FFL in early July, but I couldn't put my hands on it until mid November.

The only thing about this Valor that I wish DW hadn't changed is that the 2020 model has straight GI-style slide serrations, whereas earlier versions had wider, angled serrations, which IMO look better, even if they aren't any more functional. Otherwise, it's a sweet, sweet pistol. It's more accurate than I am, and it gobbles up any ammo I feed it.

That is one FINE looking 1911. Congrats!

Hello! In the market for a 1911

    Found a sig 1911r-45-sss-ca

I don’t see that exact one on the md roster list but they also list just 1911 for the first one.

Does that mean all sig 1911 models are up for grabs?

The new shoes look awesome! Assuming that's a gunsite model? Haven't been hands on with any S&W 1911s, but am definitely looking forward to doing so.

Thanks— Yes it is a Gunsite edition. After shooting it a couple of times at the range and doing dry fire drills from the holster I just wasn’t comfortable with the smooth walnut grips. But I wanted to keep the aesthetic of a classic 1911. Very satisfied with Altamont’s product at the price point I paid. The weight and feel of the Gunsite edition is surprising.

Finally finished up my Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 in 45 acp. Did a Wilson Combat trigger, sear, disconnector, hammer, strut, beavertail grip safety, fancy little torx grip screws and flat mainspring housing. With a little filing and tweaking, the trigger turned out great @ 4.5 lbs almost no take up with zero creep and very short reset.

Very very nice! If you don't mind my asking, what did all of those parts run you in total?

When I picked up my Dan Wesson Valor, I wanted some pretty specific things out of it. Initially I looked at the Sig STX - a gun I still think I'd have been happy with. Then I moved to the Springfield TRP, and then I figured that if I was going to spend that much, why not spend a hundred or so more and get the Dan Wesson, right? In any case, these were upgrades on my list:

    Beavertail grip safety,
Ambi safety (This was optional - I have yet to use it on mine)
Checkered front strap (again, optional - I like it, but I'd have been ok without it)
    Magwell
    Tritium sights
    Lightweight trigger
    Lightweight hammer

You've got the biggies on yours - the grip safety, and the hammer and trigger. I like projects, and I'm wondering about the idea of getting a less expensive base pistol and putting the effort into putting the aftermarket tweaks into it.

Trickg, I have a total of about $220 in parts including shipping and Wilson parkerized some of the parts to match the gun. I got a really good price on the gun new sometime ago and did everything back then except for swapping out the flat mainspring housing last week. I do a lot of my own gunsmithing, but never owned a 1911 before. It was fun figuring how it works and it took a bit of file fitting and polishing. Had to do some adjusting of the sear spring. Once I reassembled and verified the function checks were good, I was shocked how nice the trigger worked out. Guess I got lucky being it was my first experience working a 1911. I probably could have picked up a SA Range Officer for the same money but I’m glad I attempted and succeeded in doing it myself. All I have to say is that once I got into it and something that we all know is that John Browning truly was genius!
