South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has shown support for Constitutional/Permitless carry in the past:

McMaster endorses bill to allow carrying firearms without permit
    https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/politics-government/article144681219.html

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster Friday endorsed a bill that would allow South Carolinians to carry a concealed firearm without a permit.

“Governor McMaster appreciates the House’s hard work on this bill, believes it is constitutional and will sign it if it reaches his desk,” said McMaster spokesman Brian Symmes.

Signing the pro-gun bill would appeal to gun advocates who vote in the 2018 Republican primary for the governor, when McMaster will be seeking a four-year term.

The proposal, sponsored by state Rep. Mike Pitts, R-Laurens, calls for what often is referred to as “constitutional carry.” The bill would allow those who legally can own a firearm to carry it concealed without a government-issued permit.

This was back in 2017 and McMaster was reelected as Gov. for a 4 year term in 2018.

If his support stays true all they have to do is get it to his desk, which is easier said than done with the SC legislature according to past experience.

this just common-freakin'sense. then, if you actually commit a crime with a gun, or are in possession of it illegally, they throw the book at you. isn't that (or wasn't that) the essence of America, you're free to do what you want, UNTIL you start doing bad stuff?

Looks like it covers open carry too. But not hopeful as the SC Senate always kills this bill.

SC is especially annoying in that they don’t accept non-resident permits and don’t allow open carry at all currently.

I would simply be excited if SC started issuing or recognizing other states NR permits. There is that large swath of red on I-95 from here to FL.

You can lay that at the feet of SLED, always lobbying against expanded reciprocity yet can't give examples from any state about NR permit holders crossing state lines and committing violent crimes.
