I hear everyone on the iron sights. But I'm not going to do that. She's 5. We'll get there eventually, but for now we're not actually training marksmanship. We're just making sure she has fun and learns safe handling. So a red dot it is.

I started shooting at 5. There were no red dots. And scopes were very expensive.

She can learn irons. And she will pick it right up and not think twice about it.

Do you actually have to take it out, load one round, stick it back in?

Or is it a SLED, so you just drop a round in through the ejection port?
Not sure, Never could use one, as I did most of my instructing with Boy Scouts and semi's were no-no's. Hence, why I have a Ruger Rimfire American.

If it is SLED type device, it makes the rifle a single shot and would be worth grabbing one.

If you have to remove it to load one round, then insert it, fire repeat. Other that totally preventing multi rounds, it seems it would be a PITA.

If you can find one get a chipmunk. I have mine from when I was 8. Real walnut stock. Similar to a Cricket but not as cheap. It's going to be my daughter's or son's depending on who likes shooting more.
