Recommend a magnum rimfire suppressor that would be at or near hearing safe for a bolt action rifle. My current rimfire suppressor, although light weight, is not magnum rated. Thanks.

I have a Dead Air Mask HD and I am happy with it. It is rated for 22lr, 22mag, 22 Hornet, 17hmr, 17wsm, and 5.7x28. It is also rated for full auto.
This is my only rimfire can I own so I have nothing to compare it to. Just remember that any magnum caliber you shoot will be super sonic so you will still have the loud crack of the bullet breaking the sound barrier.

I've read good things about the dead air mask.

I have the Silencerco Switchback which is not only versatile for all the calibers above but, size as well. I've gotten out of 22mag so, don't have any experience with it. If you can get around the Izaak Walton in Poolesville, happy to let you take it for a test drive.

If the magnum round is supersonic Out of your barrel I don’t think it’s possible to be hearing safe. It will be more comfortable for sure.

I have a sparrow which is rated for up to 5.7x28 happy to let you try at AGC.

The truth of the matter is that basically any of the modern magnum rimfire rated suppressors will sound fine, and most people will struggle to differentiate their respective performances. What matters most is handling characteristics that make the can suitable for whatever you’re planning on using it for. The top 3 off the top of my head that I like are Energetic Armament Nyx Mod 2, SilencerCo Switchback,
Rugged Oculus. Honorable mention to the Rex Silentium Mg22 Extreme Duty, but it’s a little out there for most. You can also go with a non modular design like the Dead Air Mask, Surefire Ryder, Q El Camino, CGS Hydra SS, Griffin Armament Optimus Micro, Mack Bros Vapor, Thunder Beast Takedown .22, etc. I like modular cans because it gives me flexibility to optimize suppression for whatever my use case is, but the non modular cans are great too.

Personally if I were going to buy a rimfire can for magnum rimfire today, it would probably be the EA Nyx Mod 2. I like the weight, performance, warranty, and modularity. But literally anything from a reputable manufacturer will work well and be fine.

Dead air mask is probably the best performance in a 5"x1" can. Little FRP, nice tone, decent weight for a 5.7 rated can, and dissasembles easy. Love mine, and probably the quietest rimfire can I've heard, but hottest thing i've used were 22 velocitors. Also have a rugged Oculus, slightly larger/heavier, maybe a hair louder, but deeper tone and a little more FRP compared to the Mask. It's main feature is modularity with the ability to be a 3" config that is hearing safe on 22 handguns, and decent on rifles, or full size that is quiet on both. The mount is locked in to the main tube section, so won't come apart when unscrewing from a host, where the mask has a separate mount that can unscrew from the tube, especially.if you don't crank the end cap on.
