    bagged up shot in the stock will let you at least get an idea of adding weight into the stock will be something you want before you do something permanent.
    I mentioned it before in another thread but I used lead dive weights which are bags of shot into a youth 410 for my youngins. I think I put in 3lbs or so. reduced recoil and did not slow down the swing.
    If you have shot, you can try putting into multiple zip lock bags then maybe a tied up cloth bag and shove it in to see.
    No shot, try something like pebbles or sand just to see.
