Post your reviews and recommendations for those movies dealing with the subject.

To start a classic from 1962 "Panic in the Year Zero". Starring: Ray Milland, Jean Hagen, Mary Mitchel and Frankie Avalon.
A family of four leaves Los Angeles for a camping trip just before a nuclear bomb destroys the city.
As lawlessness prevails, the father must fight to keep his family alive.

Actually a good telling of some of the actual problems that might be encountered, no zombies. Dated in Black and White but I give it four stars. It is available on line.

Is that the one where they fling a bucket of burning gasoline into the road to stop traffic?

    Crazy, daddy-o, crazy.

This one is a bit different.

    Children of Men https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/

It’s not your typical SHTF story. The premise of the plot is that somehow all women on the planet have become infertile. Year is 2021, The last human child was born about 16yrs prior to the start of the film. Society is still functioning but since it’s apparent that humanity is dying a slow death nobody really has a purpose to live and society begins to collapse.

The plot is much deeper but the part I found interesting was the imagery of what a world on the brink of social collapse looks like and how the government and various anti-government groups respond.

If you haven’t seen it, I think it’s worth checking out.

    Seriously depressing as heck

Yea, tough one to watch. Anyone who has fantasies of being some SHTF superhero should watch this one. Even if the guy had an AR-15 and body armor their condition would have only been slightly better.

    That's a good one.

Another vote for Contagion - Playing out live before our very eyes.

Soon after her return from a business trip to Hong Kong, Beth Emhoff dies from what is a flu or some other type of infection. Her young son dies later the same day. Her husband Mitch however seems immune. Thus begins the spread of a deadly infection. For doctors and administrators at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, several days pass before anyone realizes the extent or gravity of this new infection. They must first identify the type of virus in question and then find a means of combating it, a process that will likely take several months. As the contagion spreads to millions of people worldwide, societal order begins to break down as people panic. Written by garykmcd

It is the mid-1980's, during the Cold War. Ruth Beckett & Jimmy Kemp, residents of the British city of Sheffield are planning for their upcoming marriage and birth of their first child. Sheffield is home to a major R.A.F. base and has a major industrial base of steel production. But the Soviet Union marches troops into Iran, in a plan to convert it to a Soviet satellite state. The United States, the United Kingdom, and other members of NATO angrily condemn the Soviet aggression and military activity in the United Kingdom starts to mount, especially at the nearby R.A.F. base. The families of Ruth & Jimmy go about their daily business, paying little attention to what is going on in Iran. One spring day, without warning, the Soviet Union attacks the United Kingdom with ICBMs - two of which hit Sheffield, annihilating most of the city and its inhabitants. But what is even more horrifying is the aftermath that follows - a world without public order, clean food, water, electricity, or the ability to produce any of them. Ruth struggles for more than 10 years just to stay alive in this horrible, barren, radioactive homeland...

There is one scene that will make you always carry a P-38. IIRC it was the closing scene.

It can be seen on Shudder?

Although not a prepping movie, I see some similarities to our current situation and could see the libtards eating each other before too long.

    That's probably why they're buying guns ...

I am Legend is very good but I still enjoy the earlier versions of the story with "Last Man on Earth" starring Vincent Price and "The Omega Man" with Chuck Heston.

The original Mad Max trilogy starring Mel Gibson were good for showing the evolution of societal breakdown. Will probably see that too when the gangs, especially MS-13, finally get the balls to take on the cops when a catastrophe gives them the opportunity. When that happens the gang wars of the Roaring 20s will look like Sunday School pinics.

    No Blade of Grass

70s film about a mold/disease that starts killing plant life and affects food supplies. Happens in London (worldwide pandemic but movie takes place in England). A man and his family try to get ammo and guns and head out of the city to get to the country where his brother has a farm. Biker gangs, martial law, rape and murder while trying to survive. Good late night, couple of drinks movie.
