    Just a shout-out to Savage . . .

I was fooling around with the extractor on the bolt of my 12FV as I am rebarrelling in a cartridge with a smaller rim size. While I really do know better, I was not working in a clear plastic bag and the extractor and ball bearing went springing off into the hinterlands of my basement. After 20 minutes on my knees I went upstairs to call Savage to order new parts.

Savage sent me two exact replacement extractors, plus one each of two different extractors (in case they fit better for the smaller cartridge), one spring and one ball bearing. Arrived in three days. NO CHARGE.
    Impressive.

You can be in a round room with no corners and no furniture and parts will fly off and disappear from the face of the earth. It's the same when working on a car. It must be a physical law of the universe.
