I'm looking for a 9mm braced pistol. Range toy/home defense, my competitive focus is elsewhere. I'm looking at MP5 clones (probably PTR), the Sig MPX, maybe Angstadt Arms, maybe the AK-V...but I'm not hard-over. Not a super-big fan of 9mm ARs, but I won't discount them completely.

I'd expect to run it suppressed at least 50% of the time.

Thoughts? Suggestions? My initial twitch is to go MP5, simply because it IS the classic subgun...but I'm not wedded to the idea. TIA.

Give a serious thought to the CZ Scorpion Micro. Mine's been utterly reliable, fun to shoot, and required (well, I liked) the purchase of a $20 right-hand AK-style safety conversion for comfort. I've put a Vortex UH-1 on top of it for the complete Star Wars look, and that thing has been great. Just the other day at a steel match I used that rig to clean out a 20-plate stage (with 12 of those being 6-inch dueling trees) in under eight seconds. Not bragging, just pointing out how well it handles and shoots. Magpul makes very reasonably priced 35 round mags, too.

I have used it suppressed, which as you can imagine with anything in that design family, is kinda dirty. So what! It breaks down and cleans up very easily.

I have MP5, MPX, CZ scorpion Evo, and AR9 (blowback, not the radial delayed cmmg banshee) and shoot suppressed a lot (MK9K for high volume subgun applications.) The only one that I think is overpriced/overrated is the MPX. Looks cool, shoots well, it just gives a lot of gas in the face and is so expensive compared to the others. I've been wanting to try the cmmg banshee to help reduce gas. For range toy its really hard to beat the Evo but will admit I haven't shot mine suppressed a ton. The MP5 suppressor QR system is the bomb though and its easy to tune locking pieces for different uses if you really want to reduce gas.

I wouldn't do an AR9 unless it is the CMMG RDB system. I have a direct blowback and the RDB. I don't even look at the direct blowback gun anymore.

Big fan of the Banshee, maybe because I have one. Mine is a pistol with the 5 inch barrel. The Scorpion is what got me thinking about a 9mm PCC originally. But knowing I wanted to use a suppressor, the Banshee was recommended due to the RDB. Plus, who doesn't have Glock mags laying around. Or now you can get one that takes Sig P320 mags as well.
Now, should I weld the suppressor on so I can SBR it? It never ends...

The go-fast competitors nearly universally use mpx or AR-9's. It's 9mm, not 300 win mag. Recoil is not much.

Other than that, I've enjoyed the scorpion.

I have had a few blowback 9mm AR's and I took the plunge to a CMMG Banshee 300 and never looked back. It has less recoil and, with a straight trigger, you can stay on target and blast away. :party29:

If you care about performance, MPX or CMMG RDB.

If you want a cheap range toy that will work reliably, CZ Scorpion. I had to borrow a Scorp after my gun went down at a match, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well it performed.

I have both a CZ Scorpion and an AKV. My AKV is my favorite range toy. Once I got the AKV I haven't shot the scorpion much. I don't think you would be disappointed in any of the guns your considering. Always get what you pay for of course

I had a Scorpion, HiPoint 995, and Rak 9, and the Rak 9 is by far my favorite. An AK in 9mm, the Rak 9 carbine also comes in a pistol format, the Pak 9. They accept Glock 9mm mags with adapter, but they have Beretta mag adapters for sale as well on Gunbroker.

There’s a MPX and Beretta CX4 in my safe and I love them both for different reasons. You can’t suppress a CX4 easily but its light and compact.. The knock on it is the plastic inside. For MPX they’re selling like hotcakes which is why their harder to find and priced to make your eyes pop.

Another vote for the CZ Scorpion. The only other PCC's I would consider are the MPX-K and the B&T APC9 that takes glock mags.

Another vote for the CZ Scorpion. I have a micro with an eotech and timney trigger and it is by far my favorite firearm. The aftermarket is absolutely huge for it. The only other PCC's I would consider are the MPX-K and the B&T APC9 that takes glock mags.

    My experience:

AR-9: Was reliable until I hit 3,000 rounds. Not reliable after. Had to futz with it and it's still not 100%. Not even close.
Ruger PCC: Was reliable with Glock mags until 6,000 rounds. Not reliable after. Don't know the fix, probably the ejector, but I can't get a new one so it's sitting for now.
CZ Scorpion: Is currently reliable, but I only have 2,000 rounds through it so far.

I have a ton of 9mm Colt mags, as they used to be cheaper than Glock mags. CZ aftermarket mags are still less than Glock 33 round mags. Everything is a trade off. Pick your poison.
