Sanity check if this seems off.

Dealers have less stock but are also making transfers as a condolence prize. Maybe more than usual amounts of packages are hitting their doors. Perhaps a good thing as its more transfer fees net to them to make up for lack of stock.

Do you think its fine with the dealer making you come back in a few days so they can enter it in the books first? Delivery Arrival notice 5 hours prior, I am standing there taking time off work?

I feel its unacceptable and entering them on the books is not a labor intensive ordeal for a paid service.

Would you be understanding or opt out of choosing future transfers. Has anyone experienced this sort of thing?

A simple phone call to the FFL before or at the arrival date would eliminate any guesswork on waiting/pickup times

Are you a repeat customer with them, or is this your fist time? My LGS barely has time to handle the paperwork for his own sales. He sometimes leaves the phone off the hook because they are so busy with customers in the shop. Did they call you to let you know it was in, or was it the shipper's tracking that told you?

Ordering anything means less than instant gratification. I'd be patient.

Just wait until the private transfers start rolling in :rolleye12

I manage a pawn shop in North Carolina. Try dealing with a store full of customer doing all kinds of business and having some yahoo complaining that his transfer isn't entered into inventory at HIS convenience.

Our procedure is to enter the item into inventory when we can (usually at the time of the item's arrival) and then call the customer.

It's not our fault that you are impatient.

It's not a lack of effort. It's called a workload. We have other things to do than cater to a single person.

I am probably wrong, and I will apologize if I am, but you simply sound butthurt that an FFL won't adapt to your schedule and bow at your feet.

It's okay, I get a lot of customers like that. Don't talk about a lack of effort until you walk a mile in our shoes.

What do you do for a living? I could come on a public forum and bitch about your lack of effort.

The OP said "a few days" maybe you need to read that again

And before you ask, yeah someone crapped in my cornflakes today. Stimulus checks are out, people are buying every gun we have, complaining all day about a lack of ammo, gun paperwork takes more than a few minutes, and me and one other guy are busting our asses and a guy like you comes on here and complains that he can't get his transfer fast enough because the store is showing a lack of effort.

You know what? You're the guy who will be made to wait because he thinks he comes before the other customers.

I dont see myself as impatient but I am open minded to see the other side. I worked under an FFL, and its not much to "put in the books". I am guessing its to busy so I will help out.

I juggled all the in-outs doing transfers at gun shows in 94. I get what busy FFL is. You know it doesn't take long to enter in a log book. But 2 days additional?

I'm as impatient as anybody but when I transfer something in I usually wait until he calls me. They have been so busy this past year they haven't had much time to catch their breaths.

This year has been unprecedented in gun and ammunition sales. I remember the days I would enter my entries in my bound book as they came in. That was way back in the good old times. Now, my if I get to my dealer a half hour before he opens, I am fourth in line. Some times they have to go find my gun and enter it into the system before we can start the process. I just use the time to look around with the four other guys who came in to do their paperwork.

I do wait until they email me which is usually the day the gun gets there or the very next day.

I would cut the dealer some slack in this environment.

Ya- thats the question. OK they didn't call, but I did ask if I had to 2 days prior in person and was told don't worry about it. But now wait a few more days? Maybe its me- customer being silly

    GROW UP!

No two days is not unreasonable with all the crap going on right now. You have NO IDEA what hit his inbound stock in the past couple of days and if there are other customers in the store he's got to deal with them too.
