Continuing the ceremonial folding. As the Catholic burial service is now complete and concluded, the priest retires from the gravesite.

Don’s father approached the grave, placed his hand on the casket and spoke to his son quietly for several moments, then stepped back.
Family and friends remained at the graveside to pay their final respects.
The casket was lowered into the grave, and the military Honor Guard was dismissed.
Afterwards, I photographed the hearse before it left the cemetery, with silent thanks that Amber and April had never surrendered their efforts to give their brother the military honor he deserved.
Rest In Peace Don Foster, beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend.

Many wonderful stories were shared with me in meeting and talking with Don’s family members and friends at a reception the family hosted following the burial service.
Don’s father told me a favorite family story that he specifically asked me to share with the Maryland Shooters community about Don, when Don was very young and the family lived in Scottsdale, Arizona.
You might call it the Maryland Shooters “origin story” - - and it’s a story I felt privileged to hear, and one Don, Sr. thought you might like to know.
It’s midnight, so I’ll be back to share that story soon.

Your service and defense of our Country and Constitution and your fellow man surely shows the measure of the Patriot you were. May your family find speedy healing in losing you. Prayers for them all.
Wow , that gave me a large amount of pride seeing our service men & women giving the honors he deserved . Thanks for posting DL . I did not know Don but is wish i was a few year earlier in my arrival here . I know this place means a lot to me i like the brotherhood and sisterhood here .
I have met many good people here at MDS i am glad someone had the vision , it seems as if God placed Don back at MDS so we could get a few more posts from him .

I'm overcome. The outpouring of heartfelt gratitude tempered by sadness is something to behold. I can little add to what has been said before.
Deep Lurker, thank you for stepping into a role for which few would volunteer. First your brother Jeff, and now representing on behalf of the community for Don. Your burden has been great, and mere mortals would be weary. I hope you have and enjoy a long period of peace and joy in your life. The sacrifices have been many, and you deserve (and certainly need) some relief.

I joined in 2009 and, basically, learned everything I know about MD firearm laws because of what DD214 built. I barely ever post at all, these days, and haven’t since SB281 passed. I was so saddened to see the news, and a week late, at that.

Very rarely have pictures brought tears to my eyes, but the pictures taken at the burial ceremony did that to me. Deep Lurker, thank you very much for sharing those incredibly powerful photographs with us. Rest In Peace Don, you may be gone but you are never forgotten. My condolences to Don's family and friends.
