Let's look on the bright side. All of the data shows that bad guys can't get guns if they are legally prohibited from owning them. I mean. look how effective the ban has been in Chicago.

every time I hear the words 'common sense' it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Adding 'common sense' in front of 'gun control' is about as valid as adding 'ye olde' in front of everything for sale in a Williamsburg gift shop... saying it doesn't mean it's true...

I've co-opted the term. I tell everyone that common sense gun control means allowing decent folks to be allowed to carry firearms, so the bad guys* aren't the only ones with guns in the Peoples Republic of Maryland!

    This.

If you're looking for a good chuckle, ask the ardent supporters what they believe "common sense gun laws" happen to be.

Out of ten people, six will stumble over themselves, unable to answer; three will list laws which are already on the books and; the last one will double down on talking points and inevitably spit out the word "loophole."

In all cases, morality will be injected into a policy debate.

    It's an astonishingly predictable conversation.
