I could have sworn the Ethiopians ranged from $900 up to $1200, but I may be mis-remembering. I do know they jacked up the price as they sold them and found out that they were in rather good condition. A lot of guys on the FB collectors pages started griping about paying RTI over $1k for a beat up carbine because they had gotten to the bottom of the barrel.

You are probably right. Might have been like $899 when they started. I just remember initially they were “eight hundred” range. I didn’t pay much attention after that because I assumed they were fairly rough and though I’d like another one, I’d rather pay some more and literally hand pick it myself. The family hand-me-down will just have to do for a few more years.

They layered so many "option" costs that it drove the price up. Make, conditioned (claimed unissued but dont believe it.

One of the things that drove things up was that a lot of board traffic was claiming they got rare features/makes and things like UN-Quality carbines in luck of the draw. I remain skeptical. Probably bought my last carbine unless someone offers me an IBM or Rockola.

Just grabbed a Schmidt-Rubin 1911 from Century Arms. Supposedly it’s in Very Good Condition. Never ordered directly from Century before so I hope it’s not junk. They have 86-11s, K11s, and K31s in stock too and for cheaper than I’ve seen on GB.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed in their so called “C&R week” lots of way overpriced stuff that wasn’t worth it.

Their NRA good Enfields aren’t a bad price. However, I’ve never notice them say it before, but they harp many times on how they have cosmetically inspected and dry function checked these rifles, but they have NOT inspected any bores and will not warranty the rifles for bore condition.

Maybe they are just all kinds of CYA-ing, but that sounds like a number of them are pretty ugly birds and they know it. Either because they have inspected the bores on some of them, or they’ve got a number of customers try to return them for ugly bores.

I know time is money, but it only takes about 10 seconds a gun to shine a bore light in the breech and look down the barrel. Times 1000 guns, and you’ve taken maybe 3 hours to sort out however many substandard bores are in the bunch.

I wouldn’t expect a perfect bore on a “good” condition turn in rifle. But I’d also still be pretty pissed if it is a rusted sewer pipe.
