I figured I would post this before buying just in case someone has one they are not using.

I am looking for a .36 or .32 cal muzzeloading rifle. The only restrictions I have are 1, Traditions is out and 2, the barrel can't be longer than 35 inches. (or I won't be able to see the front sight)

PM me if you have one.

    TIA

This TC Hawken set is available if you are interested, its in a Pecatonica River stock and set up for target competition, multiple barrels one of which is a Green Mountain 36 cal, also has a TC flint lock and a Green Mountain flint 45 cal Barrel. Would like 750 for everything.

Augie, that looks just like a set I used when I was with Marriottsville Muzzloaders back in the '80's. It's a real nice set up but I am downsizing and just looking for a lighter weight rifle that my arthritic joints can hold. Thanks for sharing, and bringing back old memories.

I've a very nice lightweight CVA "Squirrel Rifle" in .36 down the shop for $300. If interested, you can message me and when I'm down there i can send a few pics. Percussion, and definitely less than 35" barrel. CVA's take on a T/C Cherokee, I reckon.

Sure, send me some pics if you would. I had an older CVA Kentucky at one time and it was pretty accurate.

We probably shot next to each other at MML's beef shoots and Tidewaters grocery shoots. I was a member of MML.

It's where HNP Muzzleloading was in Essex. Recently purchased the business from Chip; he was finally ready to retire.

Are you planning on selling real BP? It would be nice to have a local source for Swiss or Scheutzen now that Goex is out of business. Substitutes don't work well in my sidelocks.

The additional licensing and yearly $200 fee of an explosives license makes it almost unreasonable to carry, sorry.

Shout out for Matt down at Saint's Gun Shop. I got over there today and sure enough he had a .36 that came home with me for a reasonable price. He has modern guns in there as well including a break barrel 12 gauge, looked like and H&R, for $100. Granted we used to get used single barrels for $49 but that was a long time ago. That is a good deal today.

He also had a Taurus PT either .22 or .25 in the case for $150. That is a damn good price for a good DA only belly gun.

Was nice to meet you, John. Glad I had what you were after! Once I get everything set up and running full speed I'm be trying to post inventory as I go on here someplace....gotta figure that out, too.

If you did, you'd be the only shop in the entire state. All those Civil War reenactors could use somewhere nearby.. you might make up license cost on volume. The only other BP shop in MD was Clyde's Sports shop, and they only carried Goex, which is no longer manufactured.

With the HAZMAT fees, shipping, and 5lb MD limit, you could have a decent markup and still be cheaper than buying online.

That's not all the cost. He would also need the fire marshall to approve the ammo magazine that he would buy or build and, do to the location, the probably wouldn't allow him to stock enough to make a profit.

The largest bunch of reenactors is the NSSA and their weapons work well with Pyrodex so they will adapt. Their numbers are dwindling too as young people don't get taught history these days. Well, not real history anyway.

I do have a steel box (in which I store the powders I do stock) that would have no problem being approved, but the $200 headache that is the license and forms is just not worth the offset of the volume I'd move, as you said. I have plenty of black, personally...and my solution to finding it was the same as anyone else could have done. I just always bought in a case of 25lbs with buddies when we'd order and split it between us all. I understand that is not exactly possible, now...but I'm just glad I stocked up well before all this shortage stuff happened.
