Has to be on the handgun roster if you buy a fully assembled gun

i looked on the md handgun roster and didn't see anything from JP Rifles. anyone mind double checking? i live in va and am looking for my cousin who lives in md, will be his first firearm. maybe there is a generic listing for pcc pistols (prob not...)?

Ask JP if they'll sell the lower separately. The dealer does the transfer as "receiver only" and you buy whatever upper you like. That way you can skip the roster silliness.

see if jp will sell the stripped/base lower, or assembled lower (brace, trigger, etc)? or does that part matter?

Either way would work. It's not considered a "pistol" or "rifle" unless it's sold with an attached upper. It's a receiver, which is not covered by the roster.

Lots of AR pistols get built this way. Unless you're the manufacturer, and you need to market whole guns, there's no reason to submit an AR pistol to the roster board.

thanks for that info! does he need a hql or any other sort of license or whatever? or just cash and carry (or 10 or whatever day wait) at the receiving FFL?

As far as I could tell, they do sell the 'stripped' lower, but not a built out one. I assume they sell the built upper(didn't have a chance to look that up earlier).

You fill out a 77R online, but you don't need the HQL to get a receiver. On the HQL page you click the box "I have an exemption" (I think that's what it says, anyway). You still have to wait seven days.

ok so just to beat this to death:
buy complete pistol lower (receiver, brace, trigger, etc).
ship to ffl, do the 77r, wait a week or so. no hql or anything else.

    buy complete lower
    ship to home

put the two together and start having fun.

    correct?

    thanks for all's help!!

I think you meant buy complete UPPER and ship to home.
The first part about the lower to the FFL is correct, I believe.
