Well, the wife is on board with getting herself set up ASAP. So, thats a little good news out of this whole election disaster.

She is super tiny (5' ish tall) so I have some ideas for her rifle and pistol wise but I am open to suggestions.

Rifle: Midwest Industries Tactical Response AR 5.56 Pistol. This is a solid build from a great company, nice and light and should be ok for her to handle. She has handled my various SBR's which are 11.5" guns and seemed to be able to handle them just fine.

Optic: We need to go out and let her look through some and then go from there. Most likely a red dot, Aimpoint or Holosun if she balks at the Aimpoint price. Maybe I can finagle a new aimpoint for myself and give her my old Aimpoint H-1. :innocent0

Pistol: This is the hard one because she has such small hands. I want to take her out and have her hold as many as possible and then go someplace where she can shoot as many different ones as possible. She has already handled my Glock 19 and she can barely reach the trigger so a Glock 48 or something similar might be a good option depending on how her hands fit other guns. Maybe CZ or M&P? I have zero band loyalty even though I carry a G19/G43 so anything and everything quality is an option.

So whats on everyone's short list?

I just ordered some more AR Mags and a couple pistol braces.

You're better off focusing on fighting these bills when they come to the table. According to the bill they tried to pass a few months ago, there will be no grandfathering of AR's or mags.

For your small-handed wife, be sure to get her mitts on an S&W M&P Shield 380 EZ. My own small-handed wife loves hers. Ease of loading, operation, and recoil. Definitely handle one.

Going to try to head up to a place called Silver Eagle Group this weekend. Their list of rentals is significant. Looks to me like they have the entire Glock, M&P, Sig and CZ (the main ones) lines available to rent. Even some STI's, walthers, the main H&Ks, FNH, Rugers, Springfield XD's, Kahrs and more are available.

They can fight but they will most likely lose..better to buy and actually fight when they come for them...not all of us plan to hand over our firearms simply because there was no grandfathering..

Trust me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m not giving up a damn thing. I have openly said that I will not comply.
I’m lucky enough that I bought everything I’ll ever need and have no need for additional guns. Having said that, I don’t want us to assume we already lost. We can fight this if everyone gets involved.

Here is a humble suggestion; how about if you use the money and resources to get these socialists thrown out of office instead of knee-jerk buying? How about starting to draft scores of letters and get them ready to mail Jan 1 as these idiots take office? Just a suggestion.

I have more than I need frankly. Will actually probably thin the herd a bit if the panic buying starts in earnest. I certainly won't be turning anything in or destroying anything. I'll just join an out-of-state range when I want to go shooting.

ETA: I'd like a SCAR 17 and maybe another bullpup (X95?)

I think Maryland has so far been grandfathering items they later ban, yes? Has Virginia been doing the same? If so, when you look at what . other sates - that are even worse than Marylandistany, they have even banned buying ammo online.

So if they are likely to grandfather certain guns, or calibers, whatever, then buy that stuff first. Sometimes you can see what they are trying to do by the bills they proposed, but didn't quite get through last session. Maryaldn had several bills that almost passed, banning all kinds of things, but they either ran out of time, or didn't care enough to push harder.

I recently read an article talking about where to buy ammo online, they have a list of prohibitations in other states, I'll post it below. So where to buy online, whats the best kind of ammo to stock up on, and how are the prices? Shipping becomes a major factor when buying online, so how to compare apples to apples in prices? I appreciate anyones advice. thankyou!

this info from this article, like I promised.
    https://www.pewpewtactical.com/best-places-to-buy-ammo-online/

"As with gun laws, there are restrictions for buying ammo online based on your state. Here’s a brief overview of some restrictions, but these change all the time…so double-check!

Alaska: No ammo or primer shipments
California: No more shipping to individuals as of January 1, 2018. They will have to go to one of the following:
Licensed ammunition dealer with license on file
Federally licensed dealer (FFL) with license on file
Type 03 FFL (C&R) with their certificate of eligibility (COE), both licenses on file
Gun range that will store all the ammo on its premises
Law enforcement agency with written authorization that it is for official use
    Connecticut: Requires some permits/certificates
Hawaii: No ammo or primer shipments
    New Jersey: Additional card/ID required.
New York: Ammo must be sent to an FFL or special seller and no online ammo to NYC.
Washington DC: No online ammo sales
Illinois: Need some ID and Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID)"

Set aside your Panic Buy $$ for now , but wait and watch for the final language of what actually passes , and then Panic Buy accordingly.

That said , she is over due for her own handgun(s) , ccw, etc .

Since OP mentioned the wife's hands being small , but didn't mention strength or dexterity issues; also look at the Shield in 9mm . And the entire product line from Kahr is so small hand friendly , that they are unusable by those of us with big hands . ( I'm gaging as I type that . But my objections are their ownership by a religious cult , not the designs or workmanship .)

As an aside on this list, Alaska and Hawaii are special for geography and shipping. I have no doubt Hawaii would match ny nj ca if they were attached. Alaska is total 2a friendly, and I think just subject to location issues. Imho.

Yes, a sternly worded letter will show them...lol if you think you have all the ammo you will need you don't..also buy a couple AR Emergency parts kits and a trauma kit or 3..

No need to panic buy..instead, buy a good quality router a bench vise and a 5d jig and learn to complete 80percent lowers..you can have as many rifles as you want in every AR caliber..
