I was cleaning out the garage and found two boxes of Speer Target 44.
These were popular during the 1970s.
I remember shooting these in the home.
They consisted of a hard plastic slug that was propelled only by a large pistol primer and were reusable. You used a pencil to pop out the spent primer.
Notice they have been loaded for about 50 years. Primers were $.25 per tray.
    Hey! that's $10 at today's prices.
They were purchased at a MEMCO department store for $1.77.
A little bit of firearms history for those not born.

Hey, MEMCO. I still have 500 CCI Large Pistol primers bought there, $0.74 per 100. Probably from late 70's. Also have one of those 'bullets' in the drawer of my loading table. I remember using those.

They also came in other calibers.

And also in a form of just the plastic "bullet." You used regular cases, but drilled out the primer hole a bit larger.

****My dad worked at Memco, off Rockville Pike, and across the street from Jumbo Supermarket back in the early 80's! I thought it was a really cool store (Memco) at the time.... That area has changed SO much since then! Much more upscale for sure now... I also remember a literal wood shack (building) that was Radio Shack back then nearby. I bought a kit radio there and and!!!! A Star Trek communicator walkie talkie set after seeing the commercial on TV!!! Wish I still had those communicators! I'd be contacting Scotty to beam my ass back up from here now! :D

I have those cases and bullets. I have some rubber bullets to use in a 45 caliber handgun, too.

Have any handloaders tried the gallery round ball rounds for 44 Magnum and 44 Special cases? You can just about watch those go through the air.
