I have had this carbine for over 30 years and this morning I can not remove the magazine. The first mag was removed and after firing a second it will not release. Found nothing on Youtube.

Try spraying some penetrating fluid where t locks into the magazine well...around the edges of the magazine and the latch. Let it soak in a see if that helps. Carbine magazines are generally blued so little rust prevention.

Spring break in the magazine release? Use a shim to pop the mag out. Or crush the mag in to remove it (last resort!!!). Then repair/replace the magazine release.

Or if the magazine is just swollen. Pull the bolt back an drive the mag out with a bar or wood block. While releasing the mag release.

    Good luck!

Before you damage mag, can you remove base plate and access mag release from bottom inside magazine? I would guess spring failure not rusted.

If it's one of the cheap Korean blued steel mags, most likely the lugs on the mag have splayed open and have extended past the openings on the magazine catch, so that you can't drop the mag. Lock your bolt back and tap it out from the top, consider it a loss.

One again the Forum crew comes through for me.
Magazine is out courtesy on my 5 lb mallet. Kidding.
Looks like one of the 2 tabs on the back was damaged locking things up.
I think by hitting the mag with the palm of my hand to make sure it is seated
properly causes these tabs to be damaged. Functioned test with other mags and I am good to go.
    Thanks to all.
