    Are they only good for the calendar year purchased, or good for one year after purchase? Same with licenses? I'm not going paying full price for a license and stamp that's only good for a month. Thanks.

    Oddly, it is just the hunting/furbearer licenses that run August to July.

    I believe this is indeed the case. My understanding is that it allows the DNR to track the total number of hunters more efficiently for statistical data used for federal funds as well as making it easier for the DNR police to enforce licensing. It's a lot harder for someone to say "Oh, man! I didn't realize my license expired" when it runs for the same time frame each year.
