The MD list is worthless for that, it is only a list of purchases, not ownership. The burden of proof would be on the government, not on you.

+1 There is no law that says you have to keep records on any guns you own or sold unless you are the holder of a Federal Firearms License and then, only what is required relating to the guns in your collection.

No, they never 'unregister' a gun, but they do loose some paperwork

MSP's paperwork isn't an ownership list, its a purchase list. You never "unpurchase" something

Can't help but think that this list would constitute "reasonable suspicion" for a search of home in the event of a ban

Until MSI gets folks who were raided and had actually dispossessed themselves of said firearms. Raids that turn out to be faulty can cause retalitory lawsuits that bring huge financial compensation, esp when you can get a large group as a class. Even Frosch is smart enough not to recommend such.

So, if I decide to sell some of my old guns, do I need to have any paperwork on them? I know some of them have paperwork that is kaput, no idea what happened to it. All guns were legally purchased, just original paperwork is missing on some.

IANAL, but I don’t think it would be that easy. Otherwise every row house on North Ave. would be “reasonable suspicion” for controlled substances as well as illegal guns.

No, you don't need any original paperwork to SELL. More MD BGOS.

I guess this is why folks like 80 percenters

Exactly - um, I mean what is an 80 percenter, yeah, that's what I meant:innocent0
