My bad. He is looking for just shot. I thought he meant shot loads. Bass Pro had a few bags of shot last week. I didn’t check the shot since I don’t reload for shotgun.

Does anyone have 4 shot sitting around from the good ole days of hunting Pheasant? I need a couple bags for this fall for our trip to Kansas. I am only finding 7.5, 8 shot.

4 shot in Maryland is likely to be iffy, especially with your best bet for finding pheasant here nowadays being the Smithsonian.

But if you're up for a bit of a road trip, take a run up to Shyda's Outdoor in Lebanon Pa. They're worth a day trip if you've never been there.

Call them first and ask them to set a couple of bags aside for you. You're about 100 miles away as best I can guess, but they do show bags of 4 shot in stock.

I’m asking a buddy if he has any he wants to get rid of. He’s not able to hunt anymore.

Yup. Unless you go to a managed hunt farm. Years ago I was told that something in or missing from Maryland soil didn't let the egg shells harden properly so the Pheasant population died out.

I'm sure someone with a better memory will be alone to set me straight:rolleyes:.

I believe it was the calcium content in the soil. There was a pretty strong population of preoccupying ringnecks around Westminster and points north. We used to hunt them regularly back in the 70s.

Not a tragic loss. They aren't indigenous to the Americas anyway. They're from Asia.

The old farmers around here say the Pheasant and quail started disappearing with the advent to no till farming. Of course they used to leave corn fodder in the field and they rake it all up now. Combines are way more efficient and deer are much more plentiful. Less waste grains left out and more animals to devour them. I think its the entire change in farming probably did them in also

Ha! I thought you were referring to the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center - about 2600 acres in southern anne arundel (with not much habitat that I would consider for pheasant, and which doesn't allow hunting other than deer anyways...). Now I understand you were being sarcastic...

Last year while deer hunting on DNR land I flushed 2 quail from the laurels. They were the first ones I have seen in 30 years. Where I grew up, grouse, quail and pheasants were a dime a dozen. It was nothing to get your daily limit. According to my sister it is still the same as there are less and less people hunting. It is surprising since the coyotes are over running the place.

Antarctica - I have 500 CCI 450's available. If you are interested please PM me and we can discuss. I am located in lower Cecil County.

Hi KRC - I appreciate the offer, but Cecil is farther than I want to travel at this time. Will keep it in mind if I think I'm heading up that way. I'm in southern Anne Arundel.

I have a lot of family farming Kansas and in the Northwest part of the state they started loosing pheasant about 30 years ago but the quail were strong up until about 15 years until an ice storm followed by other weather issues hurt them bad. Used to jump 7-10 covey a day of 25-30 birds.

Loss of hedgerows and definitely tilling practices gradually reduced them down. In Western Kansas the pheasant are just as plentiful as the quail. Hard to coral without dogs and huge fields but a lot of fun!

Heard about that place in PA but have not ventured there yet. Been finding shot at $45 per bag of 9/8/7.5.

    Where they send me.
Trade bullet molds for other molds or sizers

    I have molds for; 270 150gr, 8mm* 175gr, and 7.62-39* 160gr (.311?)

Would like a 41 mag mold or sizers for 41, 32, or 365 for Mak (dreaming I know).

Could be open to other molds also or reloading supplies. Or, if you have molds/sizers I need I can offer other reloading stuff/ammo if you have ones I need/want.

    Meet around Eldersburg somewhere.

If you buy a Lee Mak mold, it will drop at @ .365/.366. Just load them unslized and let them size in the lead and you will be fine. At one time I owned several 9mmM pistols and they all shot fine without sizing. I also made my brass out of 9x19 brass when no one was selling Mak brass.
