google is your friend, I am not.
Nothing else has changed in COMAR, see the link in post #47.

Also, when they publish it in the MD register, its a done deal. The real comment period for this ran in February before they published, and they removed some things that they proposed.

I hope that arbitrary 1200 fpe rifle spec does disappear in any new regulations, but am not holding my breath. Especially with Maryland.

No chance of it. I only hope it does, or is reduced, because I’d like to hunt with my M1 carbine some day. Legal in a pistol. Not in a rifle. Now it’s not 200yd deer gun, but at 100yds it’s got basically the same energy as a stout .357 at 100.

From what I’ve seen a decent .30 soft point will pretty easily expand to over half an inch and likely still pass through a deer.

I just looked on Gbroker at 375 Win rifles. Looks like they went up a tad vs what I have seen them go for in the past. A nice 375 AE or even 38-55 with some of the modern bullets from Hornady or Buffalo Bore would make a nice deer hunting rig.
Theirs a decent No 3 with dies and bases on there right now for a reasonable sum. Its got a quarter rib on it to I think.

I don’t think there were any restrictions. Are you thinking of Delaware, they have a restriction on length and action type?

I have a (pretty dumb) question. Is the 300 AAC considered a straight wall cartridge? Tried a search here and other searches online without an answer.

Damn....how'd I miss this till now.
This is great news. Going to dust off the Super Mag.

I already have a 350 legend pistol build in the works, nice to know it won't be just a range toy. I went the same route as danB. Looked around and hated most of the shelf barrels offered. I ordered a custom from X-calliber on on of their 30% off sales. 11", carbine gas, 5/8 x 24 thread, & .875 SLR adj gas block.

I swear AR's breed faster then rabbits, now I'm thinking 45 Raptor for the large frame AR:D

We need a straight walled build picture thread.

I was contemplating 350 Legend (and may still go that route), but I also realized that my HK UMP will handle 45 Super. What say the class on the viability of 45 Super for Bambi whacking?

If Md regs will allow, I dunno .

Is it fatal to Bambi ? Yes . Is it legal for handgun hunting in Va and WV ? Yes. ( 4in bbl, 350 ftlb )

Is your UMP wearing a 6” barrel or longer?

Haven’t looked closely enough at .45 super, can it generate 700ft-lbs or more muzzle energy from a 6” or longer barrel?

If the answer isn’t yes to both, then the answer is no to being MD legal for deer hunting.

The prospect of being able to use a straight wall cartridge like a 45-70 in a lever action gun really has me enticed to get into deer hunting. Can't wait for this to be "official" I may be going out to buy one the day it is announced.

I seen a guy who frequents the range not long ago had a lever in 45/70. I think it might of been a Henry. Anyhow, it was a carbine maybe and either brand new or pretty new and it was knocking the dog S*&^ out of him.:)

He freakin loved every minute of it though. It looked like a really nice rig but I dint take the time to check it out very well.

I told him dont worry, Ill police up the brass lol. He made sure he got all of it though:o

Marlin used to make a short barreled 1895 in 45/70 that would knock the snot out of you. I don't know if they still make it but it was a handy woods gun but, at the bench, it was a killer. :shocked2:

The 45 Super in a 7.5" Blackhawk meets both the 6" and 700 ft/lb minimum. And does a great job on deer.

16” bbl - and the foot pound number is sufficient too. More the question below if anyone has had experience if it got the job done properly as below.
